the301stspartanrocketslaythe301stspartanIf you have "no interest" in going to i61, why even play tf2?have you heard of a little thing called "real life"
kinda gets in the way of video games a lot of the time

Yes have you heard about the little thing called "dictionary"? It's the thing that tells u the difference between "no interest" and "inability"

what if they have no interest because even with fundraisers ur breaking even at best to go to lan
also esea has a decent prizepool so if you enjoy tf2 then it's not that bad to play it like every night if you're winning i guess xd

i think hes probably gonna go back to evl once paddie's gone for playoffs
also why would botmode leave his friend team to let it die obviously he made sure they'd be able to get someone else

didn't really want to entertain this stupid argument but I can't let this shit go without correcting you apes
obviously in a hypothetical world where there are no other real life obligations and you can simply teleport to lan for free and everybody can go without issues I don't think anyone would say no but given the circumstances it's perfectly reasonable and understandable that froyo decided not to go
you can't just try to interpret 'no interest' without considering the context of the situation

Well if they don't wanna go to LAN then that's their choice but terms of money it isn't like other teams spending a lot to go to LAN as well, even in EU. Many teams do it before and will do it again, if they wanted it to be 100% crowdfunded then they probably could as well, nearly 10k was raised for i46. It's a case of having the motivation to go and the motivation to do some crowdfunding activies which tbh, can be mostly organised by other people.

If it's a schedule / motivation reason not to go, I can understand but when you're in a position where you can get crowdfunded, money to me isn't an excuse. If people need 3,000 dollars each to travel, they could probably get it, we're a resourceful community and very generous.

Disappointed by the lack of US teams. We might not see another multinational LAN for a while.

camperi don't understand why would top players play esea if they aren't willing to attend a lan
lan seems like 10x more fun than playing online
also froyo would've probably went if they still had nursey ;-;

I remember I heard nursey say she had an issue with her passport so she wouldn't be able to attend i-series

Why are people getting downvoted for defending them for not attending? Most fundraisers aren't actual reimbursements, they're just a percentage of the reimbursement, and if you come in 1st you MIGHT break even, considering the astronomical cost of everything else there.

You have to pay for the flight there (at this point in time, it's probably at least $1000 from the closest places in NA, hundreds more as you go west), the hotel, the transportation, the food, and lastly, the drinks, who almost everyone will partake in, as you don't just go halfway across the world to not socialize and have fun. If you have all the money settled, and you actually want to attend, you have to take off of work that Monday and likely Thursday/Friday, maybe even Wednesday if you decide you don't want to spend only 3 days at a tournament where you'll be playing for almost 2 entire days. In reality, for those who work regular schedules, you're losing even more money than simply the amount of the flights, travel, and LAN.

I really enjoyed going the first couple of times (the second time only because I met everyone I hadn't met the first time), but any amount more and it becomes kind of tiring. You dread the travel, you dread playing day 1 from like 9 am to midnight the next day on jetlag and minimal sleep, you dread the loss of money. It's not like it's some kind of fucking conspiracy that no one wants to go, as if you're all better people who would die for a chance to go to LAN and you're disappointed that everyone on froyo is missing this deal of a lifetime. Yeah, no shit, it would be your first time there, you're thinking entirely hypothetically, and you have no idea what the process actually entails. Once you've experienced everything, it can become not only overwhelming, but you can easily think of more reasons to not attend than to attend. And as banny says, if one person doesn't want to go, it becomes a domino effect. One person not wanting to go makes the next person, who thinks his presence invaluable, uninterested in attending. If you're going to spend money out of pocket to miss days of work and attend a LAN in Europe, you're going to want to do it correctly, with a real roster.

hahahahahaha yeah as a man VERY educated in the dictionary such as yourself you would know the phrase "a lack of interest" is mutually exclusive to money

SURELY the money and headache of attending aren't both reasons why you wouldn't be interested

All words exist out of context and I can interpret them in any way I feel is correct.

There can be any number of reasons for somebody to be uninterested in going (school, money, real life obligations, etc.). You really can't just say out of hand that money played zero role in the decision when you have zero knowledge of the situation of each individual player on the team.

It's not hard to understand that even if it wasn't financial there's still a million other factors at play when making that decision. ex How much vacation time will their boss give them? Do you want to use it for a video game LAN or for a vacation to Australia or wherever...

It's not the end of the world if froyo doesn't go. It'll still be a great LAN

I'd just say a "real roster" is one that is happy and confident with themselves. The moment you lose one of those, your motivation to attend something like this goes down (not saying you need both but it helps.)

AdebisiBoring, fuck Rewind.

But fair enough I guess.

Can we fundraise a Brazilian or Asian team pls

Don't blame rewind for this, there are plenty of other problems that ultimately decided the fate of froyotech attending, also it will always be an interesting event, it's the biggest (or one of) LAN event of the year.

Also idk if there are any south american/asian teams that are good enough/ want to attend, would be nice though

Wait, don't you have contractual vacation days in the US? Here in Germany it's rare to find anybody who doesn't have 27+ days of paid vacation in their contract. I think 23 days is required by law even. I usually have to take some days off at the end of the year because I still have vacation days left.
Might be OT but I'm curious now.
