do whatever you feel makes you improve. mge and dm both obviously aren't useless, but eventually are more of a warm-up or just tools to stay in shape.
and remember that kaidus never played either. arguably demoman is the class that needs it the least, but pugs are probably sufficient for any class, if you play them enough.

i found that mge helped my soldier rockets and soldier positioning a bunch, but that's it

DM is a zombie trainer. It teaches you to hold W with no real regard for your life. People constantly spawn around you and behind you, and your "team" fights them completely randomly with no comms or coordination.

I'd say 2v2 MGE is probably more realistic and better training than just DM.

i would say it depends on who you're playing against

playing against mid IM to invite players would be better to learn from in MGE because they just punish you harder, although i'm not saying it's bad to also play them in DM too

in DM you can get caught by stupid things happening just because it's always in a state of chaos, but i would say you can get away with practicing with players well below your skill level and not be affected negatively in dm more than mge

although it's also arguable that you can learn things from people way worse than you in mge as well, as you can try to not get hit or not drop any rounds, although i feel like that's turning mge into something other than actual practice

if u own and arent annoying nobody gives a shit

also @dollartard if u cant differentiate between being hyperaggressive in dm just to work on aim and taking ur time and picking ur fights in an actual match ur doomed anyway

keep this in mind:
as soon as you start trying to play mge/dm to win rather than to develop ur aim and movement its time to take a break

nitedumb stuff like counterjumping

The goal of mge is to improve your aim, so it's dumb to counterjump in mge. (If you want to be efficient).

In actual games however, there are cases counterjumps will lead you to win team fights, last pushes etc.

if we're talking full on aiming, saxton hale as engineer with the pistol is surprisingly good

You have to track a dude that's jumping across the map and has full air control

edit: yes i'm aware at how autistic it is just voice_enable 0
