to mason ploxo and clock (cba to waste space with quotes):

I think there might have been more skilled players than b4nny but the only measurable thing really is wins. That gives this title to b4nny.

I personally think platinum was more skilled given his ability to be so great while playing so little like you say mason but like unfortunately b4nny was in a better lifestage to play the game than platinum (careerwise).

I am not so sure about that. b4nny and Platinum played against each other since Season 6 through Season 17. Both were competing during the best and most overall skillful times of TF2 invite so "playing so little" is kinda strange label to give Platinum. I understand he works and is/was an adult for many seasons but both still played a lot of TF2.

After doing a comparison of all b4nny vs Platinum matches:

72 matches played since Season 6
b4nny has 49 wins compared to Platinum 23 wins
33 of b4nny's 49 wins were in LAN/Playoff settings compared to 16 of 23 for Platinum

I realize these are team games but from a strict 1v1 standpoint, the stats don't lie and they are solidly in b4nny's favor especially considering all the playoff/LAN wins.

After compiling all the stats for the TF2 database, 2 specific players caught my attention more than the most obvious players like b4nny, cyzer, plat, etc.

Ruwin is one of the most well known scouts/players in TF2 but only played a total of 100 matches in his whole career. During that time, he had a 78% win rate and put up 2 championships. If only Ruwin had played more, things may have been a LOT different when talking about "b4nny teams" dominating the scene.

Second is PYYOUR who also had a crazy 72% win rate over the course of 139 matches. 2 Championships in 7 playoff appearances but stopped playing at Season 14. Another player I think would have had a huge impact of the b4nny team dynasty.

Morin91 isn't so great? Are you kidding me? When was the last time you saw a player with such an ability and precision with the demoman class?
Morin puts the game in another level, and we will be blessed if we ever see a player with his skill and passion for the game again.
b4nny wins lans.
platinum wins lans.
Morin91 wins your heart.
You can keep your trophies, I prefer the Morin Magic.

omnifichow can anyone say anything but b4nny lol

bc its the 'cool' thing to do

I cant stand b4nny's personality but the fact of the matter is that he has the skill/gamesense to play every class at a high invite level AND has the accolades to back that up. He is the clear consensus best OVER ALL player in the game whether you like him or not. If you want to argue about who is best at a specific class then I doubt b4nny would even be #1 on any of them except for Pocket

B4nny is the Floyd Mayweather of TF2. Not the best at combat, not even the best to watch, but goddamn is he good at winning.

I'd say either B4nny or Mike - both capable of performing at the top level on multiple classes and both insanely dominant in their respective scenes for a long time.

also b/c you can discuss being the best in a lot of different ways (see wilks meme or avast's post about time vs skill) and on some level any #1 player for a time period was the best and you might even be able to say they were the best in a way that b4nny wouldn't have been able to be.

the guy who invented the gunboats roamer style could be called more influential than b4nny and showed initiative and vision that other players didn't. He wouldn't be best in skill but he definitely managed to understand the role of his class better than others
Plat was at the same skill level with a lot less effort, so per unit of time or energy he managed to be the most productive
Yuki managed to be a top tier player while playing effectively IM or Div 2 for his entire career so it could be said he managed to be the best at getting better in an environment where you can't actually practice
Reptile was a god apparently when he played when the game was like 6 months old. You could argue being the best is the ability to synthesize strategies and gamestyles and not simply copy them. Old players had to have the ability to define how the game was played and not simply follow an established meta.
b4nny obviously has been the most successful player but that could be discussed as a function of his team leading rather than individual aptitude for fragging or thinking. Someone who can command a team isn't necessarily the best at working in one.

also people dickride whoever's frag vid they liked the most

BBiA_duchesswe should really be asking who is the best at each class. Because while clockwork is probably the best scout, he isn't that great at soldier or demo.

who is the best pyro and why is it b4nny

One of the problems I find worse about answering this thread, is to get the best player, you really need to compare the best players in each continent and have them play each other, but with that only happening once a year, it can often be kinda hard to tell who is the outright best. Yes, lots of players mentioned afore could be it, Clockwork has always shown he has had some of the best aim, but if you look at examples like Powah, who showed huge potential when he was playing in ESEA, especially with his sniping skills, if he played at a Lan such as insomnia, with a lot more big players, without his general huge disadvantage, he may have been one of the best. A further example would be of the Australisian players such as Yuki, along with more of the newer members. Yes they proved what they could do at i52, but a lot can change in that time, completely changing who is the best, as they can not really be compared.

TL:DR people live far away and do not play each other regularly enough to determine a straight outright best at each class and altogether.

B4nny is definitely the "best" player of all time. Not only has he been in the competitive scene for a long time, he is also incredibly influential as a player and team leader. Cyzer started in season 2(?) but he hasn't had as big of an impact on the game itself relative to b4nny. Outside of being a player, I would also say he is the most recognized as the poster boy of TF2, introducing the viability of heavy in 6s and by nerfing the pyro.
