This is a map i recently took over, and I'm looking for feed back on how the map plays and what needs to be adjusted from a comp standpoint. One of the largest comments I've gotten is that it reminds people of process, which I'm working to change. Thanks for any feedback in advance.

This has a lot of promise. It's a lot better than a majority of early alpha maps I look at. Based on the screenshots I feel like you should rework some of your corners and connectors, but I don't have any specific suggestions since I can't run around on it right now. This deserves some testing to figure out where the problems are.

Wow this map is so close to process in so many ways,
The final has almost the same door placement as process.
2nd point area has almost the same idea as process
and the map just seems to be a rotated mid.
I'm not saying this is bad, but wow its so similar.

It didn't have snow when he borrowed it, I have a previous version and it just had normal badlands ground textures.

So after looking at some comments and having a test today with a 10v10 match with tf2maps players, i wanted to pose a question to you all. There is definitely a LOT of similarities to process, i understand. Snow is obviously an issue to some people and has been a touchy design space in comp for a long time. Would people like for me to continue to rework this current layout (which would be challenging, but not impossible) or, perhaps take elements of this map and do the layout from scratch (which would take a longer time)?

Straight maps are hard to execute properly. Might want to reconsider that aspect while you're still in alpha. It's not impossible to make a good straight map but it's not easy.

whats the point of making a post showing off a map knowing that it blatantly rips off process? and since you want to rework this - if you're going to make a map, make it from scratch. obviously use what works and makes a good map, but don't rework a stolen map.

He's picking up an old abandoned map, not stealing it. The post is to ask what parts should be salvaged and what drastically needs to be changed. He's just asking for input and advice. "obviously use what works and makes a good map" is not useful or constructive at all.

My 2 cents: I'm also not a huge fan of the straightness, I'd say the first thing you need to do is take second/last and rotate both sides 90 degrees up into a U shape. This'll give you lots of opportunities to change up the entrances to mid so that it no longer feels like process apart from the point (which should be fairly easy to change up, maybe highground/healthpack at the bottom of the U end of mid?). You also need to switch up the routes from 2nd to last, but I'd start with mid first. Definitely keep working on this map instead of starting from scratch and incorporating elements, why make extra work for yourself?

so from the straw poll, it looks like people are wanting me to take existing elements and make a whole new layout, which i actually kind of agree with, as the brush work on this map is uh, less than stellar. so now comes the question, what should i take from the map? i know people liked the spire at second, is there anything else?

so sorry for the lack of updates guys, ive been hard at work on the map and its also getting towards the end of the school year for me, so im focusing more on studies than mapping at this point. I've re-imagined the map as cp_community for right now, though that name may not stick. i will try to give you all an update as soon as possible, though i have some screenshots on my steam profile that should be publicly viewable if you just cant wait!
