esea is like a medic. everyone appreciates their support of the players that they provide, but occasionally they just fuck up beyond belief and everyone gets mad at them. hopefully they fix their mistake, but if not we still have a lot of options to pursue.

you guys are overreacting so much, I'd like to see one argument on how this even makes a difference for 99% of people

Also CEVO was fucking terrible and a straight downgrade from ESEA. Don't do this shit again, ESEA didn't even do anything this time

rowrowThey say "If you don't wanna be with us after this change, you don't have to give us money"

Yet they do this early in the season when they've already collected everyone's league fees + 1-3 months of premium from everyone.

I wouldn't have minded this update if it was between seasons, but why pull this on us and tell us "Don't resubscribe if you don't like it" if we literally just started the season.

Most likely because they knew this would be the kind of reaction they would get, so instead of risking half the teams walking before the season they push the update so the few that do walk can get banhammered out and the ones that stay will probably have already forgotten about it by the time we get to the postseason.

Sorry that I don't want to support a company that has bad business practices after this season, you are really convincing me that I should though, thanks trip!

I can't see this lasting too long if it's causing this much trouble
tf2 players and cs players aren't happy with it, wouldn't make sense to just tell their players to deal with it and have them leave esea

But for real yes it's shady as fuck to be always on, but I didn't notice any change in performance.

reddit CS players and tf2 players care, because we don't take TF2 seriously, as like a professional thing. Half the people above IM in CS are trying to play the game on a pro team, and to that goal they'll suffer anything basically. The question is whether or not the open and pug CS players will quit (they won't)

We'll survive without you.

Also in my experience taking stands like this out of principle doesn't really get anyone anywhere. ESEA is an amazing deal for TF2 and I couldn't care less about their business practices as long as we benefit as a scene from their support long term.

dont you indirectly work for esea doing production? just saying..

As for TF2, TFTV is only compensated for LAN production, and that's not really on the horizon anymore.

After playing several PUGS/Centers with a competitive config execed I can also say that I have not had any issues with the client update and performance/rubberbanding in any of them either.

So far all of my tests have not returned any sort of negative result from this update.

If anyone has any information that says otherwise regarding the update post it here otherwise I'm assuming this is completely harmless.

please note that running the ESEA Client and playing on ESEA servers is entirely optional, there are other places to play, and if you're uncomfortable with the Client always running then you should uninstall and cancel your subscription

How about offering a refund for those whom have already paid league fees and 3 months subscription?

Avast I'm assuming this is completely harmless.

Well you may be right about the lag etc being fixed but even so it is a long way from completely harmless, having some snooper software permanently enabled on your computer

i have a sneaking suspicion taht all the people complaining about getting bad FPS/lag from the ESEA client are people who have potatoes/shitty framerate already

AvastI think a lot of people here are freaking out about this without actually updating and attempting to play to see if there is actually any problem as I have to yet experience any.

welcome to every major thread made here ever

I'm really glad we have etf2l in europe. Although the prize pool is a lot lower, ESEA do seem to consistently do stuff that seems like it's either really shady or terrible business practice from a PR perspective, and not just to the detriment of TF2 players. Even if I played another game, companies like ESL still seem a lot less dodgy although I guess in other scenes you probably have more choice with which league to support.

Even so ESEA is probably the best and only choice NA players have right now and it does seem like they like and are committed supporting TF2, even if their business practices with their client aren't the most sound. I hope all the client is doing is checking specifically for cheat program executable while it's always on and not gathering any other kind of data.

i get the bitterness here, a game where the anticheat doesn't actually do anything as far as i'm aware, but I don't get the outrage in the csgo scene. going always on has always been a logical idea for an anticheat, especially when it's going to attract more people to cheat with a million dollar prize pool.

also the people who think that esea will try to bitmine from this are hilarious. i didn't know people seriously thought this until I read #63, then I realized those in the subreddit actually believe it...

That only happened when I was on wireless back at home like beginning of last season.

I'm not familiar with the esea client, but couldn't you manually kill the process and just reboot when you need to play a match?

all of this is known. The point about "copy files from end-users" is they upload the binaries that they flag as cheat executables so they can reverse engineer them. VAC is known to send md5 hashes of the binaries instead.

i'd like to point out that those are only complaints, it doesn't necessarily mean they're true and as you would expect when you're making a complaint, you are going to try and make it sound as nefarious as possible.

"The ESEA Software enabled Defendants to not only monitor end-user computer activity but also view and upload any and all end-users' computer files"
in short, it is in fact an anticheat.
