dont focus on your stats so much, especially starting out (bad habit forming). there are lots of resources here and on yt of stream vods of the best soldiers, whether that be on their respective yt channels or channels like officerreekz and fresher+cleaner

if you really want to see the biggest improvements, playing on an actual team to learn the fundamentals with others helps a ton. if you have watched comp tf2 streams before, I'm sure you know about RGL and/or ETF2L (not sure about your region). I'm sure other people on here can fill in the gaps on what I've missed in this post, but I think this covers a good portion of the point.
also don't sweat being a noob too much since we all were at one point.

Yeah its really nothing to be ashamed of. Casual tf2 does nothing to prepare you for 6v6 and it can take a while to adjust. I don't know exactly what your background is but assuming you're like most pubbees you probably arne too familiar with the 6v6 staple maps (process, snakewater, gullyeash, sunshine) so take the time to figure out some jumps on those maps. One other thing I'll mention is that you should probably check the date on any soldier guides you find. The pocket role in particular has changed a lot over the years and a guide from 2010 will have you playing way too passively.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with TF2 jump maps and their servers but improving your rocket jump mechanics is something you can always do at any time and has a very tangible effect on your gameplay. Join a jump server with an easier map like jump_beef or jump_academy and try it out!

It's also worth saying that the roamer role especially tends to have bad looking stats even in a normal game where the player is doing their job just fine.

If you're not already playing them and are NA based, Newbie Mixes are a good environment to play 6s PUGs in, the people around you are generally more invested in your improvement and having a good time: https://discord.gg/JUMQFDta

Try to win and stop looking at stats.
You'll figure out your best role and playstyle

game impact is not necessarily stats related but in general you'll need to be doing more damage than that to have any impact at all.

people are talking about jumps which are important but i think the main thing you need to get used to is the speed of the game. it's really easy to get wrapped up in learning mechanics but having amazing jumps won't help you if you can't apply them quickly and confidently in game to actually do things

keep pugging, practice your DM and jumps, and it'll start to come together quickly for you

also disregard all of that and quit tf2 immediately

keep slaying boi, even the best players in the game were bad when they started. you're jumping in with players who may have more than a decade of experience. you got this :)

Newbie.tf is a very good place to start your comp journey as well. We host coaching sessions every Friday and have an active community in the discord that is more than willing to help answer any questions you might have.
