Looking for Java Help

I'm taking a java class currently, but I'm struggling with some of the lab assignments. If there's anyone that is comfortable coding with Java, I'm looking for someone that would be willing to give some guidance on these assignments a few times a week. I'm not looking for someone to write the code for me, just someone that knows Java and could help guide me when I get stuck. I'm totally willing to pay, but I am also a poor college student so it wouldn't be too much. If anyone would be interested in helping, I would super appreciate it! Thanks

(edit):Found someone willing to help!

(edit2): Looks like lots of people are looking for coding help. Feel free to use this for future requests!

How difficult are your assignments exactly? If you're doing beginner stuff in your java class, there's nothing worth paying for that you can't get for free online. thenewboston's java tutorials are fantastic at explaining basic java syntax and OOP concepts, even 11 years after he originally uploaded them.

Otherwise, could you go into more detail about what your assignments consist of and where you're encountering difficulty?

I'm slightly out of tune with Java but if you want to add me on discord 24#7644 I can be happy to help. I'm really only good at JavaScript but I've done Java in the past and can help with some basic level stuff.

I'm curious too. I could probably help, but I don't really want to commit to anything.
AFAIK, many tf2 people are kind of into some form of CS, so there could be "programming questions" thread like the hud and pc parts threads! That would be pretty cool. I would be much more willing to contribute to a thread than be asked questions directly.

(also don't be afraid to get help at a professor's or TA's office hours)

happy to help, spent way too long using java

Snackthenewboston

i really would recommend against using this guy's tutorials. he's not a great teacher. you can tell he was entirely self-taught and had a quite a surface-level understanding of the language. you'll type in his code and build nice stuff quickly but you won't learn to how write your own code, and you'll really struggle to find answers to problems you come across

Read java's official documentation it's pretty good quality and if you continue programming your eventually going to have to go to documentation to find answers, so it will be good practice for the future.

Tresha little off topic, anyone know ocaml? have to learn it for one of my classes and its so frustrating to learn because of how different it is compared to other languages.

OCaml shouldn't be too bad once you solve a few problems in it. Functional programming languages like the ml family are all different than imperative / oo languages, but I find once you understand how they want you to think of the problem you're solving they aren't very bad. Main thing is to understand you're not defining a step-by-step process, you're defining a transformation.

Of course this all depends on if you're doing a comparative languages course (very baseline level of understanding, can honestly just do the bare minimum and then focus on other languages) or a compiler course (very in-depth).

If anyone has any experience in ARMv8 assembly language and doesn't mind helping with few questions for uni, I would highly appreciate it.
