PEOPLE NEED TO MAKE TEAMS

So I knew that there weren't many teams and allot of players looking but it didn't really hit me until 18 people added me for a tryout in 1 day since I put up my lfp. Please make teams and don't wait until the "extension" and throw together a team that will die in 2 weeks. Now is the time to make decisions and start leading. We have the potential to get back IM if the players that we had looking for teams right now could be on a team.

Some advice I can give to new leaders(based in the 5 teams I have led and made mistakes in):
1.) Stay organized, write everything down in one place.
2.) Have a set scrim schedule and make sure everyone knows it.
3.) Find players who are non-toxic and dedicated. there are allot out there.
4.) The best player isn't always the best choice, sometimes the best person is.
5.) Always make big decisions with your team, communication is key.
6.) Always listen to your team.
7.) Don't be a snake. You'll lose trust withing your team.
8.) (optional though advised) Lead by example.

I wish you guys luck and hopefully we can get people on teams and have a great season. Thank you for reading.

edit: btw if you are making a team make sure to contact ether so he can add your team to his list.

edit 2: Fygg has also created a Spreadsheet for people who are LFT. Information is here: http://www.teamfortress.tv/43451/esea-lft-spreadsheet

This has been a thing in TF2 for as long as I remember, it's simple really, either people don't want to lead or don't have the mentality to lead teams.

It's added stress to lead a team as well, not just as a maincaller but as someone who organises outside of the game.

Also, making a team is a great way to actually find a team if no one likes you *cough cough*. It also offers so much more control then just being on a team.

I'm a silver medic pls make a team if you have a brain and want tf2 to have any chance at IM or just a healthy scene in general. I think people in tf2 (and life) don't lead because they have no experience which is dumb. Really though, its a new opportunity to learn and grow; you'll only get better at it and learn from mistakes. You may completely flop and fail your team, but not even giving it a chance is worse.

sharing the workload and being organized greatly reduces the stress. if you have a friend who can start a team with you, it isn't as bad. I used to have trouble with this too, but once i got organized it was wayyy easier.

Leading a team can also be a great learning experience and an opportunity for personal growth. Take the plunge and it can be incredibly fun and rewarding!

the huge hurdle that shies people away from wanting to lead teams in open and im is the fact that getting scrims is so difficult when so many teams schedule scrims 2-3 days in advance

if an open team schedules a scrim in advance like everyone else, then gets canceled on, they're chances of finding another open team are slim to none and they usually either don't scrim or scrim a team of invite offclassers and get rick rolled

if we really want people to step up and ensure that leading an open or im team isn't as daunting of a task as it seems, every single team leader should make a pact to not schedule scrims beyond 24 hours in advance, no more scheduling 2, 3, or even 4 days in advance (looking at you jaguar...)

leading a team taught me a lot about dealing with people (making decisions as a group, working through conflict, treating each other nice, working towards a common goal) that is useful in real life like at a job. Also it's the best way to craft a team to your standards.

it is really pretty stressful tho dealing with people's schedules and scheduling scrims and tryouts and stuff so tery is leading now... As a leader you mostly hear complaints about team stuff and no one ever says thanks for scheduling all this shit at least in my experience. I was able to do it for like 3 seasons before i got tired of it.

also I think the button for Discord should be way more prominent on this website cus it is the best way to get scrims and leaders need to know about it

Nice thread in theory but without people actually getting off their asses and doing something about it, this is simply a cute thread that gives upvotes.

This is a thread where the goal is to try to get people to lead teams. Whether they do it is another thing but I cant really force them to do it. Just trying to spread awareness that we have the players to make like 5+ teams and just are not leading.

I say we should all just unite and combine our chakras to telepathically implant this power of will into people.

You could always make a team out of insecurity like I did. In fact, when I did do that, it motivated me to practice hard and get better and I actually had a real good season with that team. We had some epic battles

To add on to this, I've lead teams before and know the struggle most have to go through. I as well as many others want to play in IM this season, so if I can help any teams with leading and answer any questions I would love to.

pro tip to any lft players who have been looking for a while and can't find a team: if you make the team, you don't have to worry about being picked up. my first 3 seasons of esea I couldn't find teams bcus how many better roamers were looking (plus i was a giant bot) so i just made my own. it isn't stressful if you pick up the right people :-)

i honestly don't think I've gotten a scrim earlier than a few hours before we needed to play since like ugc. it's not as daunting as you would think just post on discord and people will find you.
