Ragorismdefyi'm surprised they didn't nerf the escape plan again

some where down the line they're just gonna remove it from the game all together, calling it now

If they remove it from the game then they won't have something to arbitrarily nerf, so they'll pick some other soldier unlock to fuck up

but the escape plan nerfs are justified

also heavy needs buffs

Super-hyped for the server updates.

It's still a shame that nodmgspread is banned though.

yeah because you should totally take mini crits when you manage to get out, and get half way across the map, and pose absolutely no threat since you have to get health and cant go back in right away

seems like a logical nerf for it, you're right

can't deny that it worked though. pain train and MG roamers seem just as common as EP ones

just optimize the god damn game already
i dont want new weapons
I dont care about new hats
new maps? we can make those, we got that covered. who cares if they become official.

I just wanna see this game run properly like it did when it was released with all the stuff we ALREADY have! I would be happy going a year without content updates and stupid weapon rebalances if it was all it took for them to put everything back in working order.

But no, everyone is probably just gunna wait for some port to the new source engine, hopefully I wont be a fucking old man by the time that happens.

@future apparently they're porting TF2 to Source2. So when that's released 12 years from now it will be presumably optimized.

Anyone else getting a game crash, when clicking on "Public" to join a random server? It just closes TF2 without an event or warning. Did reboot steam and TF2, but didnt fix it.

I guess on this topic, my PC bluescreens pretty frequently when a match goes live and when I close my game. It it possible this is TF2's fault, or just my PC?

try verifying your game and updating drivers for your video card.

Holy shit, you can choose to play on random crits disabled servers now through quickplay.

Maybe I'm out there, but as someone who at this point is mainly interested in the competitive side of TF2, when I do go pub, I want crits on. The magic of TF2 as a pub game is the absurdity and silliness, and crits just add to that. I just don't see why people want this no crit pubs. I find myself laughing when I pub TF2, because shit's so dumb. But to each his own. And actual system for finding servers does look really nice.

I've indulged myself in this conversation countless times, and what it usually boils down to is that it does not add to the game. You can interpret it however you want, but at the end of the day it's simply not fun to instantly die because of a random dice roll suddenly deciding that a shot does 3 times the damage it normally would. I genuinely don't think you ever think to yourself "haha man that sure was fun that I was fighting that guy and he one-shot me because the game decided to arbitrarily increase his damage"

Fucking crit cancer, jesus christ it's the stupidest shit

Most people just don't like dying for a reason that they couldn't have anticipated, because they can't take much from that life to improve their gameplay. For a player like myself who is ALWAYS looking to take something from every moment of gameplay and use it to improve my gamesense/aim/something, dying to a random crit teaches me nothing.

However, I will say that the reasoning BEHIND random crits (break stalemates when one of the Demomen spamming gets a crit sticky 10k etc) is very solid and makes perfect sense for the average gamer.

I'd prefer crits always be off. The pub I play on most happens to have crits on. There have been times when I was a soldier that I shot a crit rocket when I was surely dead and killed 2-3 people. Those times always make me laugh histerically. However, the times in which I was sure to frag a player, only to have him random crit and kill me, far outweighs that experience. It is always annoying.

That is the inherent flaw with crits. At any moment the players on the other team (particularly in a full server) have a better chance of critting you than you have critting one of the players.

Crits are there because new players are gonna get way more enjoyment out of giving a random crit than they will get upset at receiving one. They go into the game with the expectation that they will lose, so when they die anyway its nbd.

Its more or less the same reason conceding isn't in Dota 2. New players will enjoy taking their win more than they will hate the agonizingly slow loss.

Personally, I refuse to believe that.

6 years and 4 months ago, I started playing TF2 - my very first, real FPS experience. I was as clueless and terrible as any F2P player you've seen struggle through even the basics of the game. And I remember, I think it was the second time playing the game, I was playing Soldier on cp_well, and I somehow one-shot a Heavy with the shotgun, bemused by the "Critical Hit!!!" text that appeared above his head. Even at such an early point in time, I thought to myself, how is that even remotely fair, I didn't even do anything special to earn that other than shoot him like anyone normally would, and it normally doesn't do that much damage, so I came to the logical conclusion that Critical Hits were simply an arbitrary damage increase, a reward just for being alive enough to left-click someone else. Not to say that I had this unique clarity when it came to the game, but it was just what I observed as a completely new player.

You can interpret it any way you want, but if you approach it from a cold, objective perspective, it simply does not belong in this game by default. It'd be like if Unreal Tournament had random instagib by default, or random quad damage in Quake.

(Sorry for the wall of text, it's just something I feel really strongly about.)

As a shit dota2 player, and I can not believe this is true. There is many times I'd prefer to just leave because I realize I don't know what I'm doing and the other team does. Whereas, prolonging a win wouldn't make me feel any better. In fact I'd probably feel better stomping the shit out of someone than having to sit around for 40 minutes to win.

about the escape plan nerfs: if the escape plan had always been like it is now, and suddenly you didn't take minicrits, we'd call it ridiculously OP. Honestly, as it is, it fulfils its purpose (ie pocket rollouts and idiotic melee rushes), and it's one of the weapons that has been fixed well.

that said the fucking reserve shooter WHY
