hi im back i was wondering if you would would change anything about the list and gonna ask a question
Im looking for do a slight upgrade on my PC with a budget of around 180euro if possible
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4mQ6P3 (I already have the 1050ti and ram)
Im upgrading from some cheap prebuilt motherboard and a8-6500 apu,is it worth buying the FX-8350 for playing games like tf2 and overwatch? there is probably a way better power for money cpu i could buy at this price point but its just what i came up with with little research, thanks in advance

Not worth it. The AM3 socket is dead, and the FX-8350 uses DDR3 RAM. Best to just get a 2200g if all you're playing is TF2 and OW.

he says he already has ram and is on pretty tight budget so think it's pretty much locked to ddr3
non ryzen amds are really bad for gaming, try to look around for used older i5/i7 cpu + mb combo
eg this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-i5-2600k-ES-Gigabyte-Z77-Motherboard-HyperX-16GB-2400mz-Noctua-NH-D14/123439498788

Not quite what I meant and doesn't answer the rest of the question, but here's a rough outline for now.
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/JKTN9J
9900K or 9700K if the are actually available at a somewhat reasonable price by the time you order.

#3094
Basically what #3096 said. Pretty much anything will be better than the FX-8350, that's why it's so cheap. If you're going to buy a new mobo anyway you can get a better CPU.
If you want to reuse the RAM you're limited to 4+ years old CPUs anyway, so your best bet is getting a used CPU + mobo. i5 or i7 preferably, but even an i3 with decent clockrate would be an upgrade. Ideally Hawell (4xxx) if you can find a combo that's within your budget. Shouldn't be terribly difficult.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H81-Gigabyte-Motherboard-Bundle-Intel-i5-4460-3-4GHz-Quad-Core/223206232278?hash=item33f820d0d6:g:TKMAAOSwZhtb1E3i:rk:21:pf:0
Higher clocks would be preferable, if you're lucky you can get an i7, but the clockrate is more important.

PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel - Core i5-9600K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($279.99 @ Newegg)
goal clockspeed ~5.2GHz , don't particularly need more than 6 threads would prefer more than 4 though
CPU Cooler: Fractal Design - Celsius S36 87.6 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($113.97 @ Newegg)
I feel conflicted on this one for cooling potential without being extremely loud this is one of the better options with stock fans. at least that's what's shown here other than the NZXT kraken that's ~$40 more, the Corsair H115i is also a option in that regard. Primary goal is to cool a i5-9600k at 5+GHz without being distracting and cost less than $150 and not cover up the RAM
Motherboard: MSI - Z390-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($129.99 @ Amazon)
I had picked out a slightly cheaper board that is apparently out of stock. Don't feel highly confident in buying a newly released mobo either. Either way this should do everything I need it to do
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($269.99 @ Newegg)
at the time of looking it up it was the best performance/value for 2x16GB and gives me the choice to go to 64GB of ram if I can ever come up with excuse to do so...
Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($147.99 @ Amazon)
not gonna lie their's probably better performing or performance/value M.2 SSDs but this is more or less what I'm looking for.
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card (Purchased For $0.00)
Already own it, may upgrade to something better late next year or after
Case: Phanteks - Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($97.59 @ Amazon)
Doesn't have tempered glass, no ridiculous exterior designs, has room for a 360mm radiator.
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G1+ 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($75.98 @ Newegg)
Calculating power consumption and adding 10% would suggest a 550W would be fine for this build but if I was to upgrade to a 1080ti or 2080ti I'd rather have the extra wattage beforehand.
Sound Card: Creative Labs - Sound BlasterX AE-5 Sound Card ($119.40 @ Newegg Business)
I'd prefer to not have an external DAC+AMP, but would like better sound quality
Case Fan: Phanteks - PH-F140SP_BK_WLED 82.1 CFM 140mm Fan ($14.39 @ Newegg)
Matches the stock case fans otherwise don't care
Total: $1232.21

Would like to keep the total below $1300, not particularly dead set on anything specific

Planning on turning my current PC into a dedicated stream PC with capture card from this PC.
Goals
Be able to stream 720p60fps possibly even 1080p60fps at a significantly higher quality than I can currently
Be able to maintain over 240fps while streaming 6s
Be able to maintain over 240fps while streaming in quake champions

I'm not purchasing this PC all at once but over the next few months just would like an extra pair of eyes to see if I've picked or about to do something horribly retarded.

Keep in mind that it's just a rough outline. Case/SSD/HDD should be changed according to taste/needs and there's lots of interchangeable options for mobo/RAM/PSU so the choice depends on whatever is in stock and cheapest.

#3100
The jury is still out on 9600K vs 8600K. The 9600K is soldered but the die is so thick that it's not actually cooler while delidding became much more difficult and to get the full benefit you need to sand down the die.
Until we get statistics that it actually overclocks better than the 8600K I'd assume the worst.

You're willing to spend more on the cooler than on the mobo? Either way Aios are really not that impressive.

And no, nothing has changed since that rant.

Yes, that's just 4 cores (with HT though), but it doesn't change the fact that the Aios are getting their asses handed to them by Le Grand Macho RT, a fucking single tower single fan 60€ cooler.
Basically no reviews include Air coolers in the Aio reviews because it always makes the Aios look laughably bad, struggling against coolers that cost half or less at thrice the noise level.
Even going to 6/8 cores doesn't change much, while the single fan Grand Macho might drop off adding a second is cheap and this is the point where the dual towers like the NH-D15, R1, TC14PE and so on start beating the single towers like the NH-U14S because before that the second tower didn't even make a difference. It wasn't even necessary.

So either get a good air cooler or go straight to semi-custom prepackaged sets for proper watercooling instead of spending 40$ more than for an air cooler just because you can't live without being able to see your RAM from all angles.

The cheapest mobo might do everything you need it to do, except overclock. The lowest end uncooled/unheatsinked 4 phase VRMs will not get you to 5 GHz, let alone 5.2 GHz. You need a good CPU to get past 5 GHz, which is luck of the draw, but you need at least decent VRMs to even get to 5 GHz and there's no luck involved in VRMs.

When did you look up the RAM? For that price you should get higher frequency and/or better timings.

There are multiple options along the line of price/performance tradeoff, but we can leave the SSD be for now.

The PSU makes sense and there's nothing wrong with it, it's technically flawless, it's just not any cheaper than all the better options. EVGA G2, Corsair RMx v1 and Seasonic Focus Gold are simply better. G3, RMx v2 and Focus Plus Gold are much better. And none of those cost more than 80$ either. The G2 actually costs the same and the G3 right now costs less than the G1+. Until EVGA sorts out their MSRP the G1+ is basically pointless.

Sound cards are complicated. Depending on your headphones/speakers I'm not sure it's worth spending that much.

What's your current CPU? Removing the game load from the CPU only does so much, so I'm not sure you'll be able to stream at "significantly higher quality".

It's not about seeing the RAM. Adding RAM/removing RAM for troubleshooting is an absolute nightmare. In my current system I actually have one of the Heatsinks you mentioned "TC14PE" in a triple fan setup. honestly just wish ram was slightly further away from the CPU. Either way I can definitely still do air cooling.

LMAO I didn't even notice...

after some looking I'm thinking about these 3
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3MJkcf/asus-prime-z370-a-atx-lga1151-motherboard-prime-z370-a
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2k3H99/asus-prime-z390-a-atx-lga1151-motherboard-prime-z390-a
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GPdxFT/gigabyte-z390-aorus-elite-atx-lga1151-motherboard-z390-aorus-elite

I'm leaning on the asus z370 board mostly cause I like the layout more than the gigabyte and is cheaper than the z390 version lol

SetsulWhen did you look up the RAM? For that price you should get higher frequency and/or better timings.

~7 days ago. I see there is now a 2x16GB 2800MHz with CL14 that's cheaper than what I picked

Fair enough, I just didn't want to pick a dud lol.

SetsulSound cards are complicated. Depending on your headphones/speakers I'm not sure it's worth spending that much.

Currently I have a HyperX Cloud headset "KHX-H3CLW" pretty sure that is the correct model number. But I'm looking to get something like the Sennheiser 569 headset + a dynamic microphone that I'm still undecided on the level of quality I want.

SetsulWhat's your current CPU? Removing the game load from the CPU only does so much, so I'm not sure you'll be able to stream at "significantly higher quality".

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6jrYqk here's the part list of my current PC. not listed are 2 other SSDs I have + 1 CPU Fan and I replaced some peripherals. CPU is at 4.7GHz

The primary way I plan on achieving that significantly higher quality is to go from Hardware encoding (NVENC) to Software encoding, but I want to do that software encoding on a different PC.

Stream Settings I currently use
Resolution: 1280x720
Framerate: 60
Encoding: NVENC
Bitrate: 5200
Lanczos Filtering
Audio Bitrate: 128

currently looking at Elgato HD60 Pro for the capture card.

New tentative list

after some looking I'm thinking about these 3
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3MJkcf/asus-prime-z370-a-atx-lga1151-motherboard-prime-z370-a
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2k3H99/asus-prime-z390-a-atx-lga1151-motherboard-prime-z390-a
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GPdxFT/gigabyte-z390-aorus-elite-atx-lga1151-motherboard-z390-aorus-elite

I'm leaning on the asus z370 board mostly cause I like the layout more than the gigabyte and is cheaper than the z390 version lol
When did you look up the RAM? For that price you should get higher frequency and/or better timings.
~7 days ago. I see there is now a 2x16GB 2800MHz with CL14 that's cheaper than what I picked
Fair enough, I just didn't want to pick a dud lol.
Sound cards are complicated. Depending on your headphones/speakers I'm not sure it's worth spending that much.
Currently I have a HyperX Cloud headset "KHX-H3CLW" pretty sure that is the correct model number. But I'm looking to get something like the Sennheiser 569 headset + a dynamic microphone that I'm still undecided on the level of quality I want.
What's your current CPU? Removing the game load from the CPU only does so much, so I'm not sure you'll be able to stream at "significantly higher quality".
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6jrYqk here's the part list of my current PC. not listed are 2 other SSDs I have + 1 CPU Fan and I replaced some peripherals. CPU is at 4.7GHz

The primary way I plan on achieving that significantly higher quality is to go from Hardware encoding (NVENC) to Software encoding, but I want to do that software encoding on a different PC.

Stream Settings I currently use
Resolution: 1280x720
Framerate: 60
Encoding: NVENC
Bitrate: 5200
Lanczos Filtering
Audio Bitrate: 128

currently looking at Elgato HD60 Pro for the capture card.

New tentative list

Just in case anyone is wondering, the situation is a bit more complex so we're discussing milkcrate and zip tie upgrades via Steam.

#3103
Neither.
Overclocked 9700K or 9600K.
Or buy a 9900K and disable Hyperthreading if your goal is to spend as much money as possible.

I'm not buying it strictly for gaming, I need a beefy processor for engineering programs and for video editing. But out of the two I presume the 9700k is the better one due to single core processing?

Well that wasn't what you asked.
Depends on the program. Rendering/video editing is usually multi-threaded. Similar clockrate and more cores win, which would be the 9700K or 9900K. CAD depends on the program.
Either way better single threaded performance would be whichever gets the highest overclock.

#3107 You should get the AOC AGON 240hz monitor, it is way cheaper than the BenQ counterparts and they have the same panel I believe.

So the other day when I got home from work I went to turn on my monitors and noticed my computer was off. I did all the basic trouble shooting, checking connections, making sure outlets work etc. Still broken so I tried changed the cmos battery, cleared the cmos, did the paperclip test and nothing. What I did next was remove the RAM and GPU to see if there was any sounds or codes from trying to boot without either of those and nothing once again. So I figured it was a PSU issue I got a different PSU and tried that changing all the cables to the CPU, GPU and motherboard but still nothing.

This leads me to believe that it is a motherboard issue since there are no error codes or sounds when all of my ram is removed as well as my GPU. Is there any other tests I could do to see if it is actually my mobo before I go buy a new one? If it is a motherboard issue, any recommendations on what to get, only thing it needs is the ability to overclock and fullsize atx.

PC Specs:
GPU: Zotac 1080ti
CPU: i7-7700k
Motherboard: Asrock z270m Pro4 Microatx
RAM: Ripjaws V DDR4 (2x8 GB)

Case: Corsair 450D ATX Mid Tower Case

If you did the paperclip test properly the PSU is dead. It doesn't tell you anything about the mobo. That's the whole point of the paperclip test, to test the PSU with nothing connected to it.

So first if you didn't do it already do the paperclip test properly, with nothing connected to the PSU. Of course the PSU and mobo could both be dead but let's make sure first.

The next step is to test for shorts. If for some reason there is a short the mobo will not start and it should not start with any PSU since that would kill it. So you remove everything from the case, put the mobo on a non-conductive, smooth and flat surface (no carpet please) and try to boot with only the CPU, the cooler and the RAM installed. Of course you need a PSU that passes the paperclip test for this.
If this test fails as well then it's probably not looking good for your mobo.

I tested it again and the PSU was working properly, turns out I had it backwards.

I tested the motherboard + CPU, with both sticks of RAM, one stick of RAM and no RAM at all. There was nothing, no boot, no error codes, no lights and no sounds :/

It seems my motherboard is busted then. Any recommendations on motherboards? I've been looking around and it's really hard to find 7th gen chipset motherboards

Did you actually remove the motherboard from the case? That's important. Ideally do a visual inspection, check if anythings lodged in somewhere.

Yes, I looked at all the connections visually, removed them reconnected tried like that. Then took everything out and put it on a kitchen table and tried what you recommended.

Ok then, it's not guaranteed but the mobo is the most likely culprit.

A used mobo would probably be cheaper but there seem to be quite a few options available.
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#c=110,119&sort=price&page=1
The GA-Z270P-D3 is on the low end like the Pro4, so it depends on how high you want to overclock, but other than that's it's a decent choice.
The Extreme 6, Extreme 7+ and MAXIMUS VIII RANGER (thanks for the caps ASUS) are all on sale for 100-110$ and quite good but also Z170 so you'd have to deal with the BIOS update.

First build ever, mostly just gonna be for tf2 and maybe warframe.
Not confident about is the monitor, kinda wondering if i should get a 1920x1080
Not sure about motherboard either, reviews have reported a few minor issues with spacing and putting stuff in it.
Thoughts and critcisms are appreciated, mostly going for a budget build.

New motherboard came in today and now it's working sort of. When i turn it on the motherboard and GPU light up. When I press the power button all of my case fans, CPU fan, GPU fan, and HDD's are all spinning and working. But I get no signal to my monitors and none of my USB ports work on either the front or the back of the case. I've checked to make sure everything is plugged in properly, tried to with 0, 1 and 2 sticks of RAM, plugged my monitor into both my GPU and my motherboard but still nothing. I've checked to make sure no standoff's or lose screws are causing it to short out. and I tried it with just the CPU, PSU and motherboard and the same thing happens.

Any suggestions?

Edit: I fixed it. Not entirely sure what was wrong with it but I basically rebuilt it from scratch twice testing components 1 by 1

Hey there, im looking to build a new pc that can possibily handle 240fps+
CPU: *Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($358.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: *Noctua - NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($84.43 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z370M AORUS Gaming Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($129.89 @ OutletPC)
Storage: *Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($45.65 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GAMING X 4G Video Card ($179.89 @ OutletPC)
Case: Cooler Master - HAF XB (Black) ATX Desktop Case
Power Supply: Corsair - CXM 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($42.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $841.83

I'm looking to overclock the cpu to something like 4.8 ghz and would also like to know if the cooler is good enough for it without delidding. I picked this case due to mobility issues, i will be buying some parts in brazil and others outside it, so prices arent any accurate at all.
