It was weird watching it live just chilling when it happened it took me a couple seconds to realize that It was a shooting. The only good part of it is that the shooter killed himself.

RIP to all the innocent souls

I've made jokes in the past about this kind of stuff among my friends and inner circlejerk, but the truth is I've always feared this exact eventuality. There is a critical mental health problem in the world right now, even more exclusive in the united states. Made even more server because of the availability of guns and the willingness to use them. It takes an incredible sad and cowardly person to bring a gun to a place of unarmed civilians, and indiscriminately take the lives of people who only welcomed that person into their community.

I'm going to need sometime to reflect on this mentally and emotionally shocking incident that directly effects all gaming community's across the board. My heart goes out to everyone who was injured and slain so coldblooded and without reason in this incident. Puts a whole new prospective on wearing Kevlar to LAN...

what a cowardly way to go and taking innocents with you, no philia and all goes to shit like Aristotle says:
""the good person must be a self-lover, since he will both help himself and benefit others by performing fine actions. But the vicious person must not love himself, since he will harm both himself and his neighbours by following his base feelings."

the sickest part about this tragedy is that the victim on the stream is black so the americans on imageboards blame blacks cuz ???

ScrewballYou can literally go to the grocery store and buy a gun in this country.

Do most people have the mentality that banning guns like in other first world countries is worse than having them that obtainable or is it just the vocal minority

If you think thats bad, just recently mcskillet commited suicide going the wrong way up a highway going a 100. He killed a mother and daughter. He was a csgo skin trader and made youtube videos, valve trade banned him because of some shenanigans with a gambling website. So he murdered two people and killed himself over it.

this is one of the most disgusting things i have seen in a while and in my opinion is on par with the original event in this thread.. this makes me think about how it could literally be anybody at any time just trying to get somewhere and how that 12 year old girl and her mom were probably just spending some time together and died for no reason

there really is just no excuse for having a 'take others out with me' mentality

when i first read this i almost couldn't believe it

Everyone should just get CCWs and stop these retards when they start their rampage. No one is willingly going to give up their firearms so confiscating them will make things much worse.

You don't solve gun violence with more guns. Americans are gunna have to understand that if they want their country to be a safe place.

I feel much safer when I'm with people who I know are also carrying. Gun control isn't going to solve anything. If you want to stop shootings, get rid of gun free zones. Gun free zones are the best venue to commit a mass shooting. Just because you young lads aren't mentally stable nowadays is no reason to try and restrict guns from law abiding citizens. Like it or not, our guns aren't going anywhere.

that's what happens when it's this easy to obtain a gun, and when mental health institution population in the United States declines from 500k to about 25k over the course of 5 decades. it's convincingly evident that the United States requires a mental health reform to help reduce mass shooting incidents

frenzy_Spuwishaccording to LA times the guy was a competitor who lost previously in the tournament ...valve trade banned him because of some shenanigans with a gambling website. So he murdered two people and killed himself over it.

the trade ban was almost certainly not directly responsible for his decision to commit a double-murder suicide, and was merely fuel to the fire. he had already been dealing with mental issues prior to the ban, given that he didn't post anything on youtube or twitter for over 2 months preceding the ban, which might've been when his mental health issues began to seep into his everyday functionality. but that's just my two cents on the matter, take it with a grain of salt

EncreDo most people have the mentality that banning guns like in other first world countries is worse than having them that obtainable

Last I checked, Switzerland is a "first world country", yet it's easier to obtain a semi-automatic gun there than in most US states. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Switzerland https://www.quora.com/How-hard-is-it-to-get-a-gun-in-Switzerland-vs-the-United-States And at the same time, it has a much lower rate of gun homicides than the US.

Now stop and think for a second what the primary underlying cause of people going on murderous rampage sprees is. It's mental illness, yeah?

https://www.thelocal.ch/20131122/long-living-swiss-top-tables-for-psychiatrists
Switzerland has 45.1 psychiatrists per 100,000 population in 2011, far ahead of the nearest challengers Iceland (22.3) and France (22.1). That's 3x more psychiatrists than average.

By comparison, the United States had a rate of 14.1 psychiatrists per 100,000 people.

By no means are the US's gun laws perfect but Switzerland shows that you can have relatively lax gun laws and a lot of firearms in the country itself and still avoid commonplace gun crime if you pay proper attention to mental health services. Aka: treat the disease, not the symptoms.
