Even though I haven't really been playing myself for that long and feel like I've missed out on a lot, I also have had some pretty fun times playing this game with my pals and will forever be grateful that I got to be a part of such a wonderful community.

I've played TF2 since it went F2P and I loved every moment of playing it back then (and still do), so much so that I became a PC gamer after using an Xbox for so long and only because of how much I loved this game.

But I owe so much more than just my PC gaming habits to Team Fortress 2. TF2 was a masterpiece of game design and inspired me to learn more about how to create and code my own experiences for people to enjoy as much as I had enjoyed TF2. I don't think I'll be able to achieve something as great and with such a legacy, but I do appreciate the resources Valve has given to not only enjoy the games they make, but learn how they work in-depth and help make your own games and other software.

I know we're all waiting for a great update on the 10th anniversary and we're worried if Valve can deliver. However, I believe our very worry is a testament to how great and capable of a company Valve is. If Valve were a bad games studio, we wouldn't be here discussing it among ourselves, nor would we even be expecting another great free update from them after a decade.

It's amazing how far we have come, with Valve and through our own community alone. Here's to another 10 years. We have both the game and community to take us there, and I'm excited for the journey we have ahead of us.

Double post, I know. Still, I got like at least 20 (actual playworthy) games in my steam library which I never actually touched or installed. Since I started playing TF2 in early 2013 I pretty much stopped console gaming and almost completely lost interest in other games at all. There's just nothing to replace TF2. I'm actually kind of sad that I was too young to join the community earlier but anyway, thanks for creating basically the best videogame there is. Also thanks to the community for keeping this section alive (basically even creating it) for a whole decade now! It may be somewhat "pointless" at some times but at the end of a day you're entertaining many passionate people (including many 'lurkers' like me).
Thanks a lot to everyone who made my TF2-experience as good as it is! <3

I understand that competitive was not what you intended when the game first launched, but without competitive being a thing in this game it would have been harder to understand what trusting a team mate truly means, the time you have to dedicate to become better in a thing and to discern and accept criticisms from people who truly want to see you do better, the grief that is to lose when you care, the hope (and hype) that is to understand there is a way to win when things are not in your favour, and the happiness that is to overcome your weaknesses and thrive against the odds not alone, but with your teammates, the same ones who you've been honing your skills for a long time, the ones who are 5 of the closest friends i have and they will surely continue to be for years to come, even after the game sadly meets its end. I know it sounds cheesy and it's hard to describe, but thank you so much for paving a way for these feelings to reach us all. I had fun. Lots of it.

Thank you valve for creating the best game in videogame history. I understand this game isn't perfect, but I love it more than any other game I've ever seen.

Well... TF2 got me through the worst years of my life, and it allowed me to meet great people that I would never have talked to otherwise. Thank you.

This game is great. It's not about the graphics, it's not about the age, it's about the experience. TF2 has given me an experience like no other. Im sure I'll give up video games someday and move onto other things in life, but I can say with great certainty that this game has taught me a few things throughout the years. As I go forward in life, I will probably cherish those memories for years to come. Thanks Valve.

I got the game in the summer after it came out... and I was pretty much hooked since - I've spent nearly a full year of my life playing this game. The reason I didn't buy it in October? I was still on dialup! lol.

habby anniversary game;

this is funny: i remember when i started playing tf2 in 2010 and thought how i missed the golden age for both competitive scene and tf2 in general only starting playing 3 years after the release; 2+ times that period passed now and, well, guess i was not exactly correct on that thought;

heres to more years of carrying on for one of my favorite games ever

Like so many others said, not only is TF2 a great game, it's led to a lot of great experiences. So many people in this community have made some impact on my life during my time here. I met my best friend and current roommate through TF2, and she's finally getting her degree soon. As much as this game can frustrate me and aggravate my injuries whenever I try to play it competitively again, I always come back to it. Thanks for the 10 years of TF2, Valve, and here's to many more.

TF2 has been enjoyable in both my casual time (taunts, different gamemodes like Slender Fortress and Vs Saxton Hale, 2Fort) and in more competitive time (MGE, DM, watching matches and events like i61, Tip of the Hats)
That's why I've managed to play this game for many years and never get bored in TF2.
