Where to play PUGs?

I play scout. I'm guessing around high open level, but I don't really know... not on a team.

PugChamp: is mostly IM / Invite players, I get picked only 2-3 times per day. Love it though, and am def improving from playing there.

MixChamp: Not that I'm amazing but I typically top frag and want better competition. Decently balanced games but not that many of them per day.

TF2C: doesn't have that many games going on, and skill level is so-so. Can play HL for shits and giggles but doesn't really improve my game much.

FaceIt: Currently garbage. Teams are demonstrably highest ELO vs lowest ELO. No matter how hard I pound, I can't beat the stack. Then I lose ELO. Then I get on a shittier team. Lose more ELO. Even if I had high ELO, I can't imagine getting better playing there. I quit until they fix it.

Scrims: I would love to play in more scrims but I don't know where to find 'em. I guess I need to join a team?

There's a list of currently active PUG groups in another thread, not sure how updated it is

http://www.teamfortress.tv/31369/list-of-pug-groups

I know that Solid Pugs, pugs.tf, Newbie Mix Pugs are all active, though I think some are outdated (for example New Map Pugs and Kritz Pugs havent run in forever)

you could try to find a stable sub spot or something, you don't have to commit time to finding a team/grinding with them and you still get to scrim one or two nights a week.

im thinking about starting a steam group called poverty pugs
most pug groups start off trying to be super legit but then turn to cancer
so maybe the solution is to acknowledge that they will be aids and embrace it

on the topic of the thread yeah ur kinda fucked you should probably just join a team pugs are bad in general tbh

The only way to unlock your full potential is to join a team. Pugs can only take you so far until you hit a brick wall and plateau out.

#tf2mix was so awesome back in the day. It was like mixchamp but not aids, and it was typically pretty populated. I wish we could bring something like that back.

I don't in-house anymore because honestly none of the live in houses are better than champ.gg

Cephalo pugs are alive so u should them because they are (I think) better quality than any groups mentioned in the thread.

Yeah the problem is there's not enough people pugging to have a group for open-mid IM and another group for high im-invite. doesn't really have anything to do with the sites

since most im+ pugs still have an open player or two and some open pugs have im+ people in them it ends up just being shitty for everyone

also i think tf2mix was pretty good. the biggest problem was the woodpig dudes stacking teams on alts but even that was just 10 minutes of getting rolled and then another pug would start. unlike now where a 5-0 kills pugs half the time

what happened to the pro pugchamp or whatever the fuck it was called

why not just have like 2 servers for open-im pugs and 2 servers for high im - invite pugs and just make a new domain like na.pro.champ.gg or something like that (i don't know anything about site developing or domains so idk if its hard to make a new site just for "pro" pugs) so that open-mid im players can play in pugchamp open and high-im invite players can play in pugchamp pro

also in "pugchamp pro" anyone can add up to med but you need to be "invited" to add up to a fragging class and/or captain

i guess this is the closest we'll get to that mixchamp wall johnmilter has been suggesting for months

Yeah like someone above mentioned, I would try and find a team that needs subs (and make sure they will allow you to play in their scrims) so that you can play with good players in a more structured and cohesive setting.

There just aren't enough people pugging for a pro pugchamp anymore. People would rather wait 5 minutes for a 'eh' pug than 2 hours for an an invite one. I don't think a single pug on the prochamp ever happened in like 2 months
