The combination of a high pressure position (i feel like if i don't perform at my best at all times i am crippling my team more so than on any other position) with lots of heals makes you feel both powerful and helpless leading to extreme highs where you feel like an amazing player and other situations where you feel like total shit. The heals you get also make you less aware of your team's overall health situation often leaving you confused as to why nobody followed up on the fuckload of damage you just did when you where really just over extending and unaware of your team's situation. Also while playing gunboats pocket scouts are literally Satan.

Pocket soldier syndrome is a thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pretty much this. I felt like a god in open and moving into IM is forcing my to change how i play entirely. Last season was a good reality check that i was desperately in need of. Yeah i put out good stats but stats don't mean shit if your team dies behind you because of your own tunnel vision.

I completely agree with everything that you said. Pocket is the easiest position to get amazing stats on in low level games. Speaking as a person that doesnt main solly and therefore has absolutely no jumping skills and no DM on soldier, when I'm playing pocket against open dudes, all you have to do is shoot the ground in front of you and you get 400 dpm.

Another problem that I've noticed, in europe at least, is the fact that roamers in low levels essentially play pocket #2. 20% heals, stand in choke with the med, spam, ez 300 dpm.

Idunno, I guess medics in lower levels are just really biased towards healing soldiers (doesn't matter if it's the pocket or the roamer) and as long as those soldiers keep getting amazing stats, they'll think that they're great and that they don't need to change anything about their playstyle.

Sometimes its useful to have two soldiers spamming a choke point and not have one on the flank, though its very situational. This results in high % heals and damage on the roamer.
Take having gullywash mid for example, you can leave both your scouts on big door to hold the flank (aslong as they dont push like retards) and you can have two soldiers and a demo spamming the other demo/pocket by choke.
Advantage of this is that if you manage to hit a fair amount of damage on the demo/pocket theyll move away from view of the choke to heal up and stop taking spam, then you as a roamer can jump through choke, trying to force the uber or kill the pocket, no one expects the retard play because theres usually stickies. And it gives your team an advantage and breaks stalemate.

However, at higher levels demo's tend to stand back from choke near rock and not take spam and watch stickies. I think i see kaidus doing this a fair amount.

Etymology

Show Content
race (n.2)
"people of common descent," a word from the 16th century, from Middle French race, earlier razza "race, breed, lineage, family" (16c.), possibly from Italian razza, of unknown origin (cognate with Spanish and Portuguese raza). Etymologists say no connection with Latin radix "root," though they admit this might have influenced the "tribe, nation" sense.

Original senses in English included "wines with characteristic flavor" (1520), "group of people with common occupation" (c. 1500), and "generation" (1540s). Meaning "tribe, nation, or people regarded as of common stock" is by 1560s. Modern meaning of "one of the great divisions of mankind based on physical peculiarities" is from 1774 (though as OED points out, even among anthropologists there never has been an accepted classification of these).
Just being a Negro doesn't qualify you to understand the race situation any more than being sick makes you an expert on medicine. [Dick Gregory, 1964]
In mid-20c. U.S. music catalogues, "Negro." Klein suggests these derive from Arabic ra's "head, beginning, origin" (compare Hebrew rosh). Old English þeode meant both "race, folk, nation" and "language;" as a verb, geþeodan, it meant "to unite, to join."

sleeping is very accurate with a lot of his points

pocket in low open starts off as a mind-numbingly easy class with an almost infinite room for error

as you reach the top of open and start to play teams with non shit meds/pockets/scouts your job gets much much harder as a LOT of what u used to do stops working

theres also a lot of medics (especially in open) who have very little idea of what to do independent of their pocket and the second tanking one player to win the game doesnt result in a win and they start having to make judgement calls on their own ur team tends to lose a lot of stability as people have to learn how to play transitions when they really didnt before

its also very easy to just look at stats and judge performance off that

all in all i think pocketeting gets progressively harder as you move from the bottom of the division to the top and this is rly frusturating while the other classes seem to be less of an incline while still requiring the same amount of skill
