I knew a couple of guys in my clan with ~2000 days in Runescape so between about 45k-50k hours

whats the point of this? Idling doesnt make you good

I'm friends with this guy, he's an Idle/Achievement server owner that likes to make maps and plugins, and yeah, he idles a lot, but he does put time into the game as far as coding for it. I think his idling as something to do with running his servers but idk. I rarely get a reply when I message him.

27K is quite a bit. I'm friends with Pink taco, he was a pretty big time trader, not sure if hes still into it much though. Met him in MVM. He used to leave his game open like 24/7. The odd thing though is he's been offline now for 18 days. The last time he was offline for that length of time his account was hacked.

How about a competitive player with the most hours?

theres a reason why the community page profile hours are so much less meaningful than the hours on the class screen

So since there some people on here with a huge amount of hours played I have some questions for you. Why have you got all these hours on tf2? What were you doing in your life at the same time? Do you regret playing that much? And lastly were your family/friends aware that you played this game so much?

because in highschool/college you have a ton of free time with next to no real life responsibilities

it was either playing tf2 a bunch or doing something else equally as time-wasting, but in my opinion you can actually learn some good life lessons from playing tf2, at least competitive

err, no you cant? do you really think that whatever "lesson" or "experience" you might gain from playing tf2 competitive is worth more than real-life lessons you can get from, you know, being outside?

i play tf2 competitive because i've been playing games on my computer since i was a kid so i got used to this type of "fun". and i'm a lazy ass person. i don't pretend to make up bullshit excuses as to why i do it like "i'll get good life lessons from playing a game in my computer".

That's not how it works. there are things you can do opposed to playing tf2 a bunch that are not time-wasting, they're actually very helpful to your future, some of them being what will mold you in those next generations. you play tf2 a bunch as opposed to them because you don't feel obligated or whatever.

obviously you can spend every second of your life bettering yourself by exercising or studying, my point is that it isn't realistic and everyone has downtime where they watch TV or play video games. Lots of people here choose to spend that time playing tf2.

You're just trying to take the moral high ground but like I said it's my opinion, I totally think you can learn good lessons from being part of a tf2 team. Things I didn't really learn in school as a kid.

anyway, It isn't my fault if lumieres worded his statement wrong. but sure i can concur that in the medium of entertainment, you get to choose what fits you better. But claiming that playing tf2 can give you lessons that you can't learn in school, or other entertainment options, such as sports, or even social relations is like the biggest bullshit you can make up to try to reason why you play games in your computer. it makes zero sense.

Because when you go on a forum for people who put a lot of time into a hobby and say "People who wasted their life on this hobby, are you happy" it won't be taken well.

im (kind of) less of an asshole than i was in 2012 and i like to think that was because in real life sports people cant kick you off a team if you're unlikable

tf2 builds pretty strong leadership and teamwork skills as well as the mental benefits action games in general give you, as well as a competitive drive that is good to have in any activity

also you can't go to the gym and study 24/7 or you'll literally fucking die so like video games eat up the hours you have in between class

It's kind of odd not making it anywhere notable in comp TF2 and then claiming it doesn't help you out IRL.

how to give/receive criticism without someone getting upset
how to manage your free time and other people's free time if you lead a team
how to commit to improving at something and invest time in getting there

obviously things you can learn in other facets of life, but not everyone does sports, etc.
