Compiling competitive changes we want for TF2

Since it seems valve is willing to help competitive TF2 we should try to voice our opinions fast
This thread is an attempt to make it easier for valve to hear our opinions.
Try and focus on things which aren't too controversial (i.e. increasing field of view)

This is what I came up with:

Artificial item server
Having the item server going down can change the result in a match. An item server that works like a white-list for when it does would be very useful. Maybe it could be implemented only in mp_tournament so public players will still buy unlocks.

Pauses
• Enable players to connect and join a team while the game is paused
• Enable players to type multiple messages while the game is paused
• Fix spectator sidepanel freezing for 90 seconds after a pause in STV
• Fix players sliding after a pause in STV
• Add a five second warning before the game is unpaused

Map changes
• Fix shadows spilling through walls on cp_granary
• Remove the window frame on badlands middle in the house (it wasn't solid before the recent update)
• Explosive splash no longer goes through the spawn doors
• Spawn doors (furthest forward) on gullywash now hurt you (and sometimes kill you) as you walk out of them

Disable random damage
Despite there being a command to do this already there is still a slight amount of random damage. While this may not sound like much it can have a large effect. For example, the grenade launcher can two-shot or three-shot a soldier depending on this random damage. (I've tested seeing if the damage depends on where the grenade hits on the player and there seems to be no relation)

Teammates going invisible
The previous fix to this issue only partially worked.

Map score changes
• Implement some kind of halftime feature where the scores are preserved
• Switch the scores over when using mp_switchteams
• Show the rounds won for each team on the spectator HUD (like on the TFTV overlay)
These would all make the game much clearer for spectators

Shorten the Original explosion sound
The sound is very loud and trails off for a while (it's much harder to discern this sound than the normal explosion sound). You could also revert back to the old explosion sound.

Stop rockets and stickies colliding with teammates
At a certain range they explode/bounce off teammates which is pretty annoying

Add a player outlines through walls feature for watching games in STV similar to CS:GO

Add a ready-up feature for each player in tournament mode
This feature already exists in Mann vs Machine.

TargetID changes
• Add an option to disable the "last round you did..." stats. This option is annoying for medics when it pops up in a new round as it hides the targetIDs (so you don't know who you're healing)
• Add your heal target's ammo to the targetID similar to the targetIDs in Mann vs Machine

Changes to the Escape Plan
Remove the minicrits but add a player takes 35% increased damage effect.
This is essentially minicrits but without removing falloff damage.

I've probably forgotten a lot, so your ideas would be appreciated

A lot of the OP suggestions related to pauses are features in Dota 2. Let's hope Valve gets some inspiration from that game to put those features in this one.

-Have a better Colo(u)rblind mode than a picture over people covered in piss.
-Make no rag dolls/shadows a video option via the in game options

Competitive related
-Make Footsteps slightly louder, at least in the comparison to maps background noise/explosions
-Add/Smooth animations/hitboxes to people spamming crouch in air
-Make it so shadows don't render through walls

Servers
-Allow servers to have tick rates higher than 67/s i.e 100/s, 134/s
(btw, for those who do not know this would improve hitscan hit detection, and allow for lower interps)

STV Related
-Have moving a camera move on a Z axis bound to keys by default
-Make the 3rd person Camera a little further out
-Add the ability to see players through walls like the casting plugin

Map Changes
-All those little places where I can see someone with literally nothing obstructing my view, and being unable to hit them because of a invisible walls sticks out a little to far.

-Make a decision to make weird props on walls to either be able to be clipped or not, because a case by case basis is dumb. (Example: The skull in badlands house can be stood on, where as the security cameras on gran last can't. Why?)

Monochromatic Bunny has been petitioning for a real colorblind mode since forever. I think at this point it's either not going to happen, or it really just needs people to be louder and more numerous about it.

I'd like to see advspechud be integrated into the game properly instead of needing -insecure to work.

A spectator minimap would be cool as well. With an overhead view it would be very helpful for seeing who is in what position without needing to switch to their POV all the time.

Having a section of the Steam Workshop dedicated to HUDs would be amazing as well, where you could download them, select or deselect them in-game, and not have to delve through a series of folders to do it yourself.

Not going to happen. Why would Valve give you an option to remove the things that they make money off of, and that is a big part of the game?

The number of people who would actually use this option would be extremely low, probably almost completely Competitive players only. The vast majority of the people who play TF2 will leave it on, especially considering how large the TF2 economy is I highly doubt this would break Valve's bank. + The majority of the people who would turn off cosmetics would be the people who play the game the most, and are the people most likely to bring in new people other than Valve themselves.

They can still make money off of hats, people will still buy them. People shouldn't care in the first place if their magical unusual hats or whatever can't be seen or not. Many people will probably still keep the hats in their game, as now snipers will finally have a challenge to actually shoot heads, not hats.
