TobThe sites themselves aren't the problem (generally)
Public pugs simply attract miserable people. The crowd nobody wants in their dmix servers
Some don't care. They'll feed 24/7
Some care too much. They'll whine whenever things go wrong
Combine the 2 on one team and you get a miserable experience for everyone in the mumble.
So both groups need to learn and understand how to play together
as alba said above
albathe reason to play is because tf2 is fun. Elo shouldnt be the motivator to play, that just leeds to toxicity.
In every mix you'll have person who plays better and person who plays worse or some people who don't like eachother. Even if you'll get 12 players, all of them from prem div there can be conflict between them but you should at least try to cooperate.
Idk why but there weren’t so many divides between people in the past (in old pugs)

What do you mean by "in the past" because pugchamp was 10 years ago (Sadge) and there was so much bullshit going in in them with people that didn't want to play with each other. I remember there being pugs that frenchies would ruin by making teams of 5 french people and 1 other that didn't speak french. There were people (bad players/captains) that would only add as captain who many people wouldn't wanna play with, and this shit was daily.
Pu2 way before that surely had it's garbage too, though I only played as couple of those before it died.

Idk maybe it's only from my pov but back then I didn't notice it and I had no problem with anyone and it was very active, many pugs everyday. Maybe from someone else pov it was different and I was lucky.

-every time one of these threads comes, none of you actually listen to the criticism and shit just continues on a cycle. both the sites and the PLAYERS need to listen
-if theres 12 people just start the q over and over again till it happens, don't wait for someone to specifically pick medic or something. make it like a mix system. is it the best? no but it gets way more pugs to start than the shit tier picking class system. i think its also the reason rahmixes survived for as long as it did
-gonna catch some downfrags for this but many of you need to grow up and get a life outside of pugs and be actually nice to be around. for me and many of my friends one of the main reason we dont play pugs is because some of you might not be directly "toxic" in the "getting banned" terms. but shit like snarky comments, disappointed sighs, downplaying plays or literally just being a chore to be around. and many of you play literally 24/7 so why would i want to play pugs if all the people me and many others we dislike are literally just always on. along side this most newbies coming in to pugs are gonna be way more sensitive to this shit cuz its their first time. if the first pugs they get are all filled with what most of us would refer to as incels, then why would anyone play?
to add to this, i don't like aimtech any more than any of you, but if i got in a game with her i'd still just play the game, compliment plays or join in on chit chat. make this shit inviting instead of radiating antisocial autism. if you DO do that then at least make sure everyone knows its a joke.
-"quality of the pug" if you say this ur part of the issue. some pugs are just going to be shit, focusing on making every pug great is gonna end up making none of them happen
- make this shit accessible and ADVERTISE sites somewhere instead of just word of mouth. War pointed this out but, literally, where do you play pugs now? and WHERE am i supposed to find out? outside of tftv or asking people that already play for a long time, you have nowhere.
-add non mumble pugs? idk if this would be a good idea but imo one of the big reasons many dont play them is just because they dont wanna talk to people. voice chat in game is fine if you really need to say something. i can see why most would hate this idea tho as its basically just making a 2nd tf2c. just an idea tho

actual reason that pugs are dead is that people are super selective about who they play the game with.
everytime I invite someone to play a pug or a dmix they ask who is in it, and if theres a player or two they don't vibe with they don't join.
so we are stuck in this divided hell of a bunch of different discord dmix servers etc.
essentially people don't play for the love of the game, they just want to play with people they like, and because the scene isn't big enough, we cannot maintain a public pug site.
not much to be done about that, just get used to not playing much tf2 outside of your happy little circjelerk, or your team

I completely agree with AMS. Pugs being dead is not a problem with the pug sites or pug features. I don't believe that making the "perfect" pug site would change anything.
People seem to want to play in their (sub-)communities which have strong leadership/ownership holding people accountable. (See tf2pickup.xx and discord pug servers)
tikkeh"quality of the pug"
The thing is, this means different things to different people. To some, this means that people need to be "trying" in the pug. To others, this means that everyone should be having fun. While those two things don't necessarily contradict, I think this hints at a divide in the playerbase between higher/lower div players.
It's defo true that people need to behave a bit more maturely when pugging.
tikkehadd non mumble pugs?
This already exists in the form of tf2c. I don't really understand why people would want that.
The same goes for fcfs pugs. These already exist, but no one uses them.
malyCan we list a requirements for a pug site that people would actually play?
If you want, I can list a bunch of features that the "perfect" pug site would have (for me). But as I mentioned earlier, I don't think that it's a site features issue.

the thing i meant with this was that most people that use this phrasing are people that keep opposing change to the websites while they're literally dying. caring about the quality of the pug is understandable but when its between a good pug and there being literally no pug at all? thats just dumb. maybe a bit of bad wording on my part, but you get the point. also i dont think its exactly a "low vs high div" kind of thing, people from both low and prem sometimes wanna tryhard and sometimes just wanna have fun, but i think many will agree with me that many times pugs tend to just get way too b4nny-esk and its usually from people that say this
also yea the no mumble thing was a random idea, we have tf2c anyway ;D
very much agree with ams aswell, discords are easy to set up and just set the vibe for. regardless of what i wrote in my whole essay, most of those people wont change so im somewhat screaming into the void here
pug sites are probably just gonna be perma dead sadly but it is what it is
