eu players please explain yourselves, there used to be pugs starting every day at around 4pm. Is it because the website is bad or is because you all have better things to do(lets be honest you don't)?

they ruined propugs for no reason

why are they putting effort into re-vibe coding the site when it was working fine
the latest change just removed a bunch of features and added discord linking which we didnt need

and it also broke map selection and the config so propugs is unplayable now

theres a new site every 4 months that has completely random features, i really dont understand the need for a new domain so frequently thats just regressing in features every time

i once sent sandblast a link to this new pugsite and he was hesitant to even add up because he thought it was a virus/phishing link

None of these sites have ban parity with the leauge.
This just means banned players flock to these sites to play.
Finding a TFC game with less than 2 or 3 banned players is a rarity.
Most people don't wanna get called a slur or be on a team where thats happening.
There so many active private dmix discord that run multiple a day, if you aren't in any maybe look inwards.

When this website had admins (previous iteration) EVERY player was background checked before they were even picked in a pug or verified in mumble. So no this site actually mirrored bans (I say mirrored because the guy that remade it for some reason didn't actually give admin to anyone as far as its known), toxicity on the other hand is usually pretty much non-existant, except for some people that were banned pretty fast.

So no banned players do not get to play on this specific site, it was mainly made for Div2+ players that wanted to play semi seriously outside of scrims. But every new version of this site is somehow worse than the next which doesn't really help. When it makes more sense to stack tf2center with your friends instead of playing a website designed around picking the best possible team available, you fucked up.

Most of these discord servers either die off quickly or are meant for players of lower skill levels, which is cool but for higher level players (div1+) there isnt really a place to play outside of scrims or whenever you might get asked to mix/merc

I have also never heard of slurs or banned players being a big problem? Usually they either get banned or admins handle them, I am unsure what sites you are referring to since I have never seen you added up on any version of propugs

this has never really been an issue in propugs (and adjacent) sites, usually only in dmix servers where 1 unsavoury player is invited and floods in with their unsavoury friends. the real issue is basically what danny and lupus above. i think the sad and boring answer is that players just can't be arsed playing and are probably doing something else (or playing in private dmix/smix servers)

I think captain pugs tend to get bad. Mixed pugs have their problems too. I think to solve higher div pugs as I said at lan would be a d2 or d1+ mix pug. So basically the same as tf2pickup.com but with that restriction

malyCan we list a requirements for a pug site that people would actually play?

please focus on this, because we have considered captain pugs as an option to tf2pickup.org project, but the implementation of a feature itself won't do wonders, as people would probably play another 3 months and site would die again

also if there is someone you think is unbiased and would love to deal with the community matters please let us know here, so we could hand over head adminning tf2pickup.eu to someone trustworthy and respected in the community, because as i am happy to host the website in general, but i am definitely not happy with dealing with adminning as it's probably the fastest way to burn out entirely for me and also i wouldn't be a good fit for an admin nowadays

I don't agree captain pugs are bad it's always come down to one thing which is ease of use of the UI. Pugchamp saw the greatest success because it was actively being supported by the developer and it had a working sub system, map ban system from captains, open pugs and pro pugs. It ofcourse would have to be reset from time to time because of pug not starting or no available server and such but the main issue is this:

!!! NO ACTIVE SUPPORT FOR THESE WEBSITES IS WHAT KILLS THEM !!!

every other issue like players not playing or unbalanced pugs are always related to lack of support be it Admin or Site Janitoring.

- Active support as Lupus said
- Map voting/banning depending on if its captain based or mixed based
- Probably no elo is better, but I am unsure
- Some type of captain priority for captains who have better winrates or something like that. Avoids a mid player shoehorning in to the pug as captain when there is like 15 prem players added.
- Rigid rules that with a clear structure of ban length depending on what has been broken and how many times maybe.
Thats the most important things I can think of for me personally

I bet many people don't play current propugs because there is no elo/ranking and they have no point to play it.

I dont agree at all, the reason to play is because tf2 is fun. Elo shouldnt be the motivator to play, that just leeds to toxicity. If anything elo should be a deterrent to not trying to win and trolling.

for me and you maybe but I heard players complained that elo got removed in new version of propugs.

edit. we can always test it and add elo to the current site and check if it'll help.

you need to generate more traffic imo the majority of the playerbase is midd/2 and it feels like this is designed for prem which obvs makes it die

you can separate pugs to open, mid/d2 and d1/prem. tag players accordingly and let them add to the pugs that are visible to them. prem is the smallest so probs having pugs will be harder but maybe you can have a refer system like someone can refer their friend they can play a game if it goes well and everyone's happy they can keep being able to add to those games and so on

i'm not sure if this reads like a bad idea to someone more experienced but i fee like more traffic = more games played = site alive

Active support is guaranteed from my side, but we're yet to have reliable admins.

Hosting tf2pickup.org for div2+ players is not a problem. Adding captain system is also not a problem. Nor is adding elo.

The sites themselves aren't the problem (generally)
Public pugs simply attract miserable people. The crowd nobody wants in their dmix servers

Some don't care. They'll feed 24/7
Some care too much. They'll whine whenever things go wrong
Combine the 2 on one team and you get a miserable experience for everyone in the mumble.

So half the team doesn't re-add after the game and pugs are dead for the day.
Eventually you stop altogether because you know who'll also add up and it's not worth it.

The proper solution is to permaban based on vibes if you want it to be public.
The practical solution is to make a private dmix server. It also dies, but you tried I guess.
