Have a 144 hz monitor but I'm getting dead pixels on the corner so it might be dying soon. Anybody have any experience with 240hz monitors? I know the jump from 60 to 144 was a big one for me, but what about 144 to 240? Is the difference as noticeable? All the 240 hz monitors I've been looking at have been mad expensive though.

i can notice a difference in 144 and 240, but i jumped straight from 60, it's awesome to have a 240hz monitor and i don't want to play on any less

thread from a few weeks ago has a bunch of responses about this topic https://www.teamfortress.tv/59786/how-has-upgrading-from-60hz-to-144hz-effected-you

if you don't have extra money to spend don't get one but if you like nice things and want ur game to be extra buttery smooth its def worth it, makes scout a good bit easier and helps to be slightly more aware/faster reacting for every class

alec was the first person i know who got one and was saying its dope for scout, yosh got one as well after playing at lan with one, i believe sandblast also bought one potentially after lan? def not placebo but also shits like $400+ and it won't instantly make u better. that said at lan i was playing soldier and saam was scout and i gave him my 240hz and used his 144 just cause scout was smoother and easier to aim, definitely a noticeable difference. habib also used 240hz for the first time that lan and i remember he was saying it unlocked his third eye or some shit lmao he owns at lans no matter what tho so hard to tell if it made that big a difference

the specific 240hz i got was a bit more exp than others but im v happy w it, followed the posts in this thread and found the added clarity was definitely worth it even using a frame rate cap that i was mad skeptical about at first

at the start, people were saying it wasnt an extremely noticable thing compared to 144hz but now people in other games i guess where its more money and they get paid more swear by it in comparison so there’s that

If you can afford it you should get it. I got an alienware one for just above $300 and tbh it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. It's not *as* dramatic as 60 to 144, but the increase in FPS is still very noticeable.

Do you still remember the model? Idk if I'd be willing to spend more than $350 if the difference isn't as crazy as 60 to 144.

in comp, jump, and on maps which aren't lakeside or old versions of cascade
full 24/32 player pubs don't generally hit that though, but those are irrelevant because they're universally dogshit anyways

After a cursory google search
ALIENWARE 27 GAMING MONITOR - AW2720HF

I have something similar, got it used for $300 from an ex quake pro, I think it retailed for $600. It was worth to me, feels good whether in TF2, other games, or other casual use

1080p at 240hz and sacrifice alot in the config to get there like shadows and gibbs
or
4k at 144hz give up less and you have given the game like a facelift

either way your spending a ton on new hardware

Don't bother unless you were planning on upgrading your monitor anyway, and you're very serious about shooters.

I upgraded from a ancient budget-tier 1080p144hz TN with no g/free-sync to a mid-tier modern 1080p240hz IPS with free-sync [AW2521HF]. Even with all those factors, it was still a bit tricky to justify. No regrets though.

Speaking to 240hz specifically, I can subtly notice the additional frames as the feeling of "like slow-motion but played in real time". Don't expect a directly observable improvement to aim. I could be hitting slightly more, who knows. Admittedly I also kinda like the peace-of-mind that I'm not missing out on anything.

If you do upgrade, I heard that DyAc on the 240hz Zowie monitor XL2546 slaps. Optimum Tech made an intriguing video on it: https://youtu.be/np--4AZxUBg

Yes you are absolutly right, never buy higher Hz screens!

Dont let the government trick you into buying one. Sheep will be sheep

Matter of fact, get yourself a 30Hz screen and just close an eye.

i said something that has been scientifically proven and you went full on meltdown,
u prolly have fallen a victim of a 144hz scam and now u tryna cope
