i've never gotten the vibe that the youtuber side of the tf2 community cared to promote comp tf2 very much. what's he referring to?

edit: how does anyone play or spectate overwatch without getting a seizure

hes got such a vendetta against this community when the people that hate him and made/make fun of him are completely out-numbered by people that STILL love him to this day

I never understood letting a few bad eggs ruin a game for someone

and the way he like, acts when he talks about TF2 with this smug voice is so fucking annoying

hes a MAJOR figure in this community whether he likes it or not, the way he left and the way he acts is so condescending

He doesn't owe this community anything I guess but I just wish he didn't act like such a dick

edit: also wtf is with his comment about ToTH??? idk what ToTH has to do with anything

I think he made a couple of videos with budsquad, and some idiots in the youtube comments section probably mocked him, so he assumes that everyone in tf2 and the competitive scene hates him or something

Seems like he has a massive chip on his shoulder. There are always a few bad eggs, this community is fine. Lots of friendly, helpful, funny people.

Also, watching that legit gave me a headache. If I ever switch to Overwatch I'm gonna have to get myself a black & white monitor.

that comparison to melee was the biggest joke i've ever heard
the reason why tf2 is such a small game with no support is because of the huge entry barrier there is to comp tf2(custom huds, advanced options, fps configs, basic shit like dmg numbers and hitsounds), tf2 was destined to never succeed and will never succeed because of that
while melee's only barrier of entry is a gamecube controller and joining a facebook group to find out where tournaments are
i genuinely don't understand how he's making such a broad statement saying how one community is "better" than the other when one community literally has ex-felons while the worst thing the most hated figure in tf2 has done is trash talk a team on lan

I have yet to tune in on a ster stream and not get this immediate sense of ego and condescension. its really hard to reconcile the lighthearted person he portrays in his old videos and this toxic persona he has on stream.

I also find it really disrespectful when old tf2 players refer to tf2 as "dead" just because they don't play it anymore. sure it's not big or whatever but it still gets played a ton. call it shitty or incapable of growth or whatever awful bullshit thing you want but it's just not dead.

tf2 has its share of felons too they just aren't as well known because the lan scene for this game isn't as big so anonymity is a bit easier

I don't get how people think games have wildly different communities, every game I've played is basically identical except for some small differences here and there. Almost anything, positive or negative, people say about a game's community can almost always be applied to every other game.
Also he complained about being called a sandbagger? Wasn't his team pretty much undeniably sandbagging?

Omg we have such a great community, everyone is so nice to each other. Everyone just wants to valve to finally make this game into an esport. If on they used this whitelist here https://whitelist.tf/7177

tf2's casual community, in terms of what their personalities are like and how they treat each other, i think is even nicer than casual overwatch players. however i can see where he's coming from when it comes to TF2's competitive community being egotistical and unfun to be around. while i think his perception isn't the average players perception of the game and his opinion honestly doesn't matter in today's competitive climate, i think the vocal minority goes unchecked by a non-vocal majority. for everyone in this thread saying that "there's lots of good people, and just some bad eggs," put your money where your mouth is and correct the behavior of these people. so much homophobic, racist, and egotistical behavior happens daily and its rare when someone really stands up for the targets of it.

do your part. prove him wrong.

I agree that there are few bad eggs in the competitive community. But all communities have them. The point is you cannot claim the whole community is rotten pile of mess just because you have been "tormented" by these minorities.

Also, YouTubers, when ster was relevent, were spreading lies and making fun of competitive side. So its perfectly reasonable to criticize them for their foolishness.

Ster also claims that the only good side of the community is that they donate and organize Tip of the Hats. Its just pathetic and blind. People have wasted their time and money to organize lans, raise crowdfunding, develop platforms and tools, etc. all for the game that they love.

idk why he keeps popping his head back into the tf2 community if he hates it as much as he claims

like fuck if he hates it that much then he should just stay gone because im honestly sick of him come back for brief periods just to shit on the community and people that got him to where he is now (not that its anywhere spectacular)

I agree with him tbh. I got that vibe from the community towards star. Everyone I played with or watched, even low skill divisions, always shit on pub tf2 players or r/tf2. The community was egotistical from what i observed and I was too. a lot of people didn't want to let casuals in for some reason.

Its more like wherever someone brought up "good" TF2 players and someone mentioned a YouTuber, like Stabby or STAR_ himself; people would just call them Bad, Skilless Pubstompers.
