Candidates for map replacement S21

Just wanted to make a thread to get some real discussion going about some of these new maps Coming out as possible replacements for season 21 of esea. What do people think of the new maps that have been tested? Are any of them viable options for 6v6 play? Personally I haven't gotten to try a lot of them but reckoner seemed to have really good flow and high pass as a second koth map looked really good,I could see them both viable in esea. Cp_dross looks like it has some potential too with some development. what is everyone's thoughts? (PLEASE feel free to bring up any maps I haven't mentioned or any other maps with potential, lots of hidden gems out there)

Let's get some constructive discussion going as s21 is right around the corner and we can possibly get a new map in the rotation.

I don't think there are any new maps ready enough to replace a map this season. Reckoner seems to have the most potential. I can see it being in the rotation s22/23 possibly.

Maps are perfectly fine for this season. If a new map arises that is better than the current ones, I'll be the first to push for it, but no such map is currently ready imo

It's gotten to the point that I have literally no clue what I need to do to logjam to make it good other than some optimization stuff. If you guys vote it in I'd be right there doing my best to update it and fix it for the next season after.

I'd say its worth a shot for this season to replace Metalworks with Logjam just to see how it works out, and then maybe Reckoner the season after if we don't like it.

Metalworks is currently the only map in the rotation which I think could be improved or replaced.

I'd say cp_follower, it has very well created points with different pushing and holding options that would fit 6v6 very well.

Follower as much as I like the map was really bad in 6v6, map was so huge in every aspect it's nuts lol I do agree with avast though about metalworks, I do think it's the most flawed Map in the rotation.

Has anyone played high pass at all? I think it would be really great to get another koth map in the rotation

Please note that the following critique of Highpass is from 2 PUGs and assorted contracts since the new update:

+Fairly long sniper sightlines from the center house (a la China on viaduct/product), but players are only visible from this spot when approaching the point so the sniper would have to be farther up / more vulnerable in order to drop players walking immediately out of a door.
+The point is easy to defend from the elevated right side and house, but you can also push from these places if you don't have the point. Players standing on the point can be spammed or teams can just rush a scout through to players defending the main house / overlook so it's not impregnable.
-The only part that I don't like is trying to get through the lower left side (walking to point) if my team doesn't have the point. A soldier could easily stand here and kill anything trying to approach the point which is why I prefer walking through the two houses (and into demo traps). This is also similar to going cliffside on viaduct/product where a soldier or demo can stand up on cliff and watch the door during a forward hold.

Overall it's very reminiscent of viaduct/product where you have to walk through a house in order to get to more houses / a cliff or elevated spot overlooking the point. The one difference is the very open left side that leads up to a staircase, no idea on suggestions to change that though. I haven't given any time to rollouts or crazy roamer / soldier bombs but I think cyntro had a few up his sleeve the last time we PUG'd on it.

I legitimately don't get why people hate metalworks.

please explain it to me

i think with gran pro we have a great map rotation with nothing that needs to be changed, unless a map comes out that's just fantastic

the mid to 2nd stalemate is worse than granary's
the last stalemate is the worst in the rotation

both of those stalemates are commonplace

The only map that's in a condition to be placed into the pool right now is coal plant and idk if people want another koth map or whatever but everything else has too many issues or isn't developed enough

In my personal experience I've barely ever stalemated on last and never noticed the mid-second stalemate to be any longer than any other map's. It might be the teams' playstyles that I've played on though.

I just love metalworks so goddamn much especially on roamer.

Even if metalworks has some problems I don't think any other map has been nearly as polished to replace it.

I'd like another koth map in the pool but only if it played differently to viaduct. Has anyone got more opinions on High Pass?

First impression is that it seems pretty fucking massive for 6s.

reminds me of coalplant, but has way more tiny areas to go into
a pro version would be really sick though

aim-euros say logjam sucks and im sure the superior 30 min match setting is correct

The Euros got logjam when it was at b9. It was put in way too damn early and it showed. I responded to way too much feedback and didn't think enough through trying to please everyone. The map has changed considerably since the Euros have seen it.

gargleburryi get 15 fps on log jam please dont put it in the pool yet

If there was a serious chance of Logjam being played in ESEA I would spend a ton of time optimizing it. There's a hell of a lot that I can still do, it just takes time. If nobody's playing it it's time better spent elsewhere.

The reason I loved gravelpit is because it really encouraged different strategies and forces players to really think about the map in ways that 5cp doesn't do. I think the few people that still like this map still share this opinion but the general consensus seems to hate gpit, so it honestly doesn't seem like it will ever return to the rotation.

Granary is really boring now. It's so damn slow. I always joke about it being a 7cp map because yard basically acts as 2 more capture points because teams often have to uber to push yard and then uber again to push second.

Personally I would love to see another koth map added to the pool to replace Granary. I think highpass currently has the most potential and many seem to agree... but it seems like it needs to be played more before it enters the rotation and it's obviously not perfect either. (sniper sights, etc.)

if hyce is on board with changing logjam based on feedback then theres really no reason not to play a few pugs and help shape your own near-perfect 6s map for use in rotation

While we're at it why not shout out every single map that has been in rotation and since been removed?

RhettroI'd say cp_follower, it has very well created points with different pushing and holding options that would fit 6v6 very well.

As much as I love Follower, you've got to be trolling. It doesn't have "very well created points", seeing as every point is taken from either Badlands or Granary. The map is literally someone taking both of those maps, fusing them together and adding "original content", while they'd probably have been better off leaving out their original content. There are too many damn areas to go through between mid and yard. The deciding factor between taking yard or losing mid may as well be decided with a game of Guess Where(/Who). I love Follower, but fuck that map.

Have you even played the map in an environment where the other players actually want to play it seriously? Chances are you haven't, or you have, but no one knows what they're doing.
