popcorpBut the worst thing about Tf2Center are people who keep making fun of them and blaming Muselk for bringing them into Tf2Center, they do not understand that they were noobs when they came into Tf2Center/Lobby as well and didn't know shit what to do, don't be so rude towards them, help out guys.

i liked the guy who was doing sub 200 dpm and posted on reddit about how easy tf2c was now

ScrewballI have been working on harvesting exceptional potatoes from pubs and introducing them to competitive play.popcorpHelped 2 players already, introduced one to Tf2Center and the other one gave all necessary information.

Things like these are exactly why I made this thread: Collection of Resources/Tips for 6v6, makes it very easy to give new players lots of information.

I've added lots of new players after playing a lobby with them and seeing them struggle, 95% of the time they are very grateful for having someone help them and being there to help with questions. Doesn't take much time and definitely helps the scene grow

MarleyJust an idea I had while reading this thread. What if TF2 Center could work Newbies Mixes into their site. .

Funny enough, we have already explored this idea. I personally was the one trying to get it going and the TF2C admin/dev I talked to was really unpleasant and didn't do much in the way of helping us. However, this is something that we would still be interested in doing if possible.

ChaChiyo what if star_ pushed comp tf2 like kinda a shame (blessing?) that he didnt do it when he was on budsquad

He has though, I know in his older videos he mentioned comp and listed a lot of resources to get involved in comp. he also made a couple of vids while in Budsquad I think. But the issue was his viewers didn't care, and why should he continually push comp if his watchers don't follow up or even watch those videos? Pushing comp isn't his job. I know it's easy to be bitter at the relative success of youtube stars in comparison to competitive, but that doesn't make it the youtubers fault. It's up to the TF2 community and previous outreach attempts haven't been terribly successful. Live and let live, I'm happy to see TF2 is popular on Youtube regardless of the format, and hopefully competitive will follow suit.

TF2C has been pretty wild lately, after this video. Many 0-5 lobby guys joining with 300 ping. Many of them never connect to the server or drop out mid game. Wish there was a way to give them a little more coaching or send them to some kind of boot camp first.

TF2C Pick up games or Organized Valve server?

What TF2C looks like now: http://imgur.com/dORKduD,5kPLJHr,ODRFm9t,tCsDjXj#0

http://logs.tf/804525?highlight=76561198069490806

To avoid this, add lobby/hour restrictions (ex. 30 lobbies/ 500 hours) and/or join lobbies with hour restrictions if you don't want to play with Muselk's subs.

I somehow have the guy on steam friends, and I applauded his efforts. He thanked me, then asked if I was going to i55, to which I replied that I wasn't. Afterwards, he said if I were in the neighbourhood for a pocket soldier to let him know.

Hello friend.

I watch his videos. And star's. And Jerma's. And Dane's. And etc. They all highlight TF2 in a completely different way than I play it, and them trying to bring their sub-communities closer to ours will be seriously awesome. It's kinda the thing I take away from the TF2Can event from a while back. Separating tf2 into different tiers of quality/elitism, as you are doing, doesn't get anything accomplished.

SORRY if your lobby experience is less than optimal over the next few weeks. A true tragedy.

Agreed, Kevin. You can't expect everyone to fit in with the comp community before they even get to understand it. Some of them are pretty young and impressionable, so setting a good example (instead of calling them aids) could go a long way.

TF2C Euro lobby. I usually have one of the highest pings on my team @ ~180. This time though, I was one of the lowest. We never had a full 9v9 game, it was about 7 on 7 most of the game due to random people dropping connections or leaving. Yea I know these guys are new to TF2 Comp, but I think some of them don't have computers or internet connections capable of handling Comp.

We had a guy in a couple 6's lobby consistently with 550 ping. Our scouts couldn't hit him. Perhaps some kind of ping limit would be nice on TF2C.

You can region-lock lobbies.

Don't ever complain that the community is dying and then literally turn around and start hating when the community is now starting to grow more than ever because of new people. What the fuck did you expect? Match-Making is going to bring a TON of more people like this, and you guys are already talking about ways to get rid of 0 lobby people with restrictions and such.

I've never been more ashamed.

I personally think all the new people getting into tf2c is great. Not 100% are going to stay (which is probably a good thing) but if even 10% do, it's great for us. It'll settle down a few weeks in, that one video isn't going to keep people coming back.

As to the star_ doing a vid thing, I had a convo with him about this in someone's streamchat. He had done 6es vids in the past and they got around 1/10th of the views of his other vids which made it just not a viable use of his time. We're in a different climate where a ton of people are bored of pubs and looking for something more now.

Not sure what your issue with Uncle Dane is but he's a great guy and I enjoy his videos far more than the majority of TF2 youtubers. He actually talks about the game and plays it instead of going for the "lol so random" humor that other folks seem to go for. He also has never dismissed 6s out of hand like a lot of youtubers, he might not be its staunchest booster because he can't play his main, but he's never been anything but respectful and understanding of why it is so popular. I know he's tried to nudge his viewers into comp, but just like Star, if his viewers don't watch or care then he has no reason to continue doing that.

I'm a little biased because he's my teammate and friend, but even without that I'd still appreciate his work. And I don't even like the engie class.

tf2center shouldn't be your main mode of practice anyways. Go play pugs, on tf2pug.me. (Mostly) everyone there is open, and even if they're not they have more experience than most people on tf2center. If helping new players get into competitive as you whine about the game dying is too much of a burden for you, just take a fucking break god damn

I think one of the biggest issues right now isn't that they're new, but that they either have shit connections or sign up for lobbies in other regions. Region lock is helpful, but not enough. We can't help new players if they're dropping from lobbies, or not using mics, or not listening to advice.
