I'm pretty sure it's the same thing ESEA does, so I guess we are all pretty stupid.

Sounds great, I'm really happy to hear that Cevo managed to pick up servers to host official matches on, and even happier to hear that they have a a system in place in case teams want to use a different one.

I'd like to reiterate my question from a previous thread though:

Are their any plans to put money back into the league in other forms besides prize pots? For example, paying writers to cover the divisions, hosting periodic events similar to the Zowie Invitational, or even compensating the volunteer staff, casters, and cameramen for some of their time.

Did you watch the video? The first season's prize pool is already covered by a donation from Nahanni and CEVO. At $2000 that already surpasses ETF2L, so I don't see why you would expect it to be any higher for a fledgling online league. Putting signups from this season into next season's pool is a sustainability measure to counteract big splashes that tail off quickly after the one big lump sum is exhausted.

In future seasons, this may be something we can do if we get enough signups. Since CEVO does not take any of the entry fee & it all goes to the prize pool, it would be up to the community to determine how much of their prize pool they are willing to sacrifice to pay content creators.

PlatypusIs the anti-cheat windows only?

Correct. Right now the percentage of CEVO players using non-Windows systems is so low that they can't justify the cost of developing for other platforms. If you are a Mac user and would like to have a Mac client, then try to rally up the other Mac users in the community and let CEVO know that you'd like to see Mac support.

Plus it acts as an insurance policy in attracting previous season teams to re-register for a pot they've donated to.

My question is what kind of support does CEVO have planned for broadcasting or attracting an audience to league matches? Will they be doing a similar stream as ESEA_orange, or will broadcasting be left to the community to organize, or is there perhaps some agreements being formed to support current casting orgs.

I'm a linux user, it's a little disapointing, but I haven't really been playing TF2 recently, i was just asking out of curiousity.

I think that trying to compete with TeamFortress.tv for coverage is self-defeating. We will be more than happy to work with TF.TV (easy since I'm part of both orgs!) to provide coverage.

This is very exciting. I urge anyone interested in playing to sign up! The more teams the better. And of course show up to matches.

I think logs.tf should be used in place of .ss the more stats is better for official matches imo, although i do think .ss is better for pugs/scrims but when it comes to matches logs.tf feels more fitting.

could even do both services to please everyone. not that i'm complaining though, anything is better than what esea gave us

While SS tracks fewer stats at the moment, I think that is a better foundation to build off of. It is contained in a single well-designed C++ project, whereas Logs.tf is reliant on a mess of SourceMod plugins. I've done enough work with SourceMod to become frustrated with it's reliability. We can always add more stats to it once the dust settles.

AJHow will matches be reported? Also is this one match per week or two?

If you play on an offical CEVO server, scores will be automatically reported. If you play on your own server, you will have to report the score manually on the CEVO site.

There will be a vote to determine if it is one match per week or two.
