aslLmao, prize pools are more detrimental to the flow of 6s than any unlock will ever be.

This is wrong.
As kaidus once explained on stream:

-Small prize pool: one team (crowns / se7en) refuses to take unnecessary risks, other teams struggle to break their holds

-Large prize pool: all teams refuse to take unnecessary risks, however because this becomes common, and there is a decent prize, all teams have an incentive to become more proficient at pushing and breaking these stalemates

The reason we see stalemates with this amount of prize money is because it is easy to defend; it's easy to play safe, like se7en does, without a huge amount of practice. If there was a larger prize pool, competing teams would also have the incentive to spend more time practising how to PUSH more efficiently - as this is a much harder skill to develop.

The reality is that games with se7en become stalemates not only because se7en refuse to push, it is equally due to the fact that teams don't practise pushing from 2nd into mid with even ubers. If the game was bigger and there was more motivation to spend hours practising, teams would become much better at this (to counter to "crowns style") and hence the game would speed up.

Im actually shocked that people are blaming Se7en for the stalemate on badlands. It was 100% evl. Did people even actually watch the game?

FlickerI've been watched comp TF2 for ~4 years or so. Epsilon and broder were some of my favourite teams and far more entertaining to watch in my opinion. So do you think 3 years later, there are far less opportunities for teams to push now ? If so, where does this change come from ?

Sticky nerf, unstable rosters and the lack of competitive depth would be some differences.

That's such a fucking lie lol. It definitely wasn't all se7en, but the Americans and Aussies play was more aggressively against each other, but whenever they play se7en the pace slows to a crawl.

EVL plays super stalematey as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_0ugeeoZ4Q) and were only sacking a roamer. Pushing badlands mid off a roamer pick isnt easy and you cant fault se7en for not pushing off of it. The entire reason the stalemate was there was that Corsa didn't move on spy. EVL rarely tried to have an uber exchange, corsa never went for anything on spy, evl just kept repeating the same roamer bomb time and time again. They were 100% responsible for the stalemates on that badlands game.

Very much disagree. EVL did have middle so in a technical sense it was on them to push but it was not that simple.
I believe EVL knew they had 7 right where they wanted them, it just came down to execution.

Corsa was providing information on locations of 7's players so he didn't "need" to go for a play because that information alone was more valuable. With that information, I see nothing wrong with EVL trying to roamer bomb the medic over and over to get a force. Why? EVL knew 7 was not going to push at all, and even if they did, Corsa's calls would have stuffed any push to middle. Why then would EVL risk a bad push when they had positional advantage and location calls? This seemed like a thought out and planned defense of the 2nd point and 7 did not deviate from the plan, hence stalemate.

IMO, 7 made the mistake in this stalemate and if you watch the video a few times you can see why. Every time Purleshirt failed his bomb, the 7 players never pushed forward to contest or at least gain information. Corsa's POV showed they just sit back and waited over and over. Nobody on 7 saw 2 EVL scouts for about 8 minutes because none of them tried to push forward. These players are very smart and experienced. I feel they could have sniffed out an off-class had they attempted to get information but it just never happened in this instance.

You knew they had a spy and when garbuglio sacked in and died they were essentially down two players every time, yet you didn't push or do anything? Maybe there is something else I am missing but that seems like the perfect time to at least see if you can push or try and get another pick or something.

also to shed some light on the situation from another perspective, i personally dont blame 7 for how they played badlands. between it being heat of the moment 3rd map winner takes all and being afraid of stark coming up spy or some other bullshit, i think we all just figured if we sac'd purple enough times he'd eventually hit the airshot on raymon and we'd win the round, but it never happened. looking back, there was a lot of other shit we could have done to break the stalemate, but we never took advantage of anything. all in all, i'm still more pleased with losing after a 0-0 30 minute stalemate than having crashed from the server in the first set we played against them on the last round of viaduct with a minute left on the clock, because at least we were in control of how everything played out for the badlands game

I can co-sign on this. You would have had to have not watched the match to not see EVERY MEMBER of Seven minus the medic shooting air and just shooting everything to spy check that entire time. In fact, most of us agreed that Seven were maybe the best team all weekend at spy checking and knowing when to expect spies.
