how can i make it faster
What's your OS?
Also, sorry for the plug but mastercomfig has some optimizations that will improve load times. http://www.teamfortress.tv/42867/mastercomfig-fps-customization-config
FreudI'm on linux and have bad internet but a decent CPU. Should I be using net_queued_packet_thread 0?
Yes, Linux's network system isn't bad and doesn't require the additional queue. Most of it is already disabled for Linux users, but disabling it and adding the launch option will save memory and a little bit of CPU.
HoppsI think maxperformance.cfg is missing this: r_dopixelvisibility 0
r_dopixelvisibility does occlusion for glows, and building_cubemaps 1 removes most of the negative performance impact from enabling it, so I think it is a net positive.
osvaldoIn the network section of the config, I don't seementionned anywhere. Has this command become completly obselete ? Comanglia formerly set it to 1 fyi.cl_lagcompensation
Same question for net_maxfilesize
cl_lagcompensation is 1 by default, and I haven't seen anyone disable it so there's no point in setting it.
net_maxfilesize is in the config https://github.com/mastercoms/tf2cfg/blob/master/mastercomfig/cfg/comfig.cfg#L84
osvaldoYo what's the command to dismiss all the "newbie bubbles" that pop up in the main menu and indicate where everything is every single time I launch the game ...
All of them are listed under HUD > Tutorial
4.5.4 released with improvements and cleanup to rope configuration and optimization, fixes to dxsupport, new midquality preset and comment updates.
Stev3Hey, I've got some questions and i think here is the right place to ask them:
1. I'm playing TF2 on a laptop (y510p if it matters) and when im playing it with your config (with the maxframes config and fps capped to 121 it makes weird sounds from my laptop, when im using feliks's i get worse fps, but no sounds...
2. how exactly does the dx level override work?
sounds as in from the hardware or the speakers?
when the game launches, it checks the dxsupport file for information on certain settings. some of these settings are cheat cvars that cant be set in the console, but are set from the dxsupport file.
well its kinda hard to say with so little info but just be very thoughtful about it, personally spend time on the gift and make it suit her interests. it's your mom so you can also make her proud if you do something really sweet or cool.
Did you follow the steps for MultiArch (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultiArch)
osvaldoHey, are there some command aside from mat_picmip that control how skins look ? Bc the latter also affects how the game looks overall ...
No, unfortunately.
ReflectoTFUsing comfig, comp and comp quality. the only changes being to mat_picmip -2 and r_rootlod -2 and my game crashed every time the second I start sending client info.
You shouldn't be using comp and compquality together, as said in the config. Also, you can't set mat_picmip -2 or r_rootlod -2. The minimum for mat_picmip is -1, which is the very high quality texture setting. The minimum for r_rootlod is 0, which is the high model quality setting.
