Is This a Cheat?

I came across a Sniper on a server who headshot me in suspicious ways (instant headshot before I myself even turned a corner) so I went to spectate them, but they switched to Scout. I'm really not sure if they're cheating or not so I haven't yet reported them to the admins of that server.

Take a look at this: https://youtu.be/TRjBI4_bu-c

Not all shots are like that, so I'd guess it's a toggle or a vicinity thing. I'm pretty sure this kind of snapping onto the target by skipping pixels and skipping pixels right back doesn't happen with legit aim, but if anyone has more insight on that I'd love to hear it. Is this sufficient evidence of a cheat?

Also note that I always only saw that pixel skipping right when they took a shot. I can upload the entire video but I'd need to render it first and make sure I don't reveal any names so that could take a while.

not a lot of video to judge by, but yes from first glance this would be a red flag for me when I'm spectating suspected cheaters

edit: Is this a recorded demo file? I guess not since you're talking about rendering?
No point in reporting them if they only join that server like once. If they come back however, use console to record a demo, which will help admins go over the demo themselves later and come to a conclusion more easily

Feel free to report them with whatever video you have already. Add a txt file with timestamps highlighting timestamps you find suspicious. No real harm in doing that

It's not a demo file, I was spectating them on the server. This is a recording of what I saw when I spectated them, recorded using Shadowplay.

I'm not sure if I should upload the entire video. Cutting out all the names will take a while. But many shots looked like that, just not all. I'm aware that cheats exist where you can toggle on and off and cheats that only activate if you aim within a certain vicinity.

his aim needlessly flicks to the center of the demo's abdomen when shooting, regardless of the crosshair position.
that's usually where aimbots target when using non-headshot hitscan weapons. also their aim looks smooth when looking around but suddenly gets flicky when shooting someone?
yeah. absolutely a cheater.

I'd rather not, I'm going out of my way to censor the name, so... Just in case, I don't want to initiate a witch hunt and instead talk to the admins directly if ever see that player on those servers again.

Some general info about the account if you care: Three years old, public profile, 1.5K hours in TF2, 100% achievements, about 10 Steam games with little play time.

100% achievements could hint at a cheating history but not necessarily. In the end none of this can be used to prove anything.

this clip looks strongly like silent aim (which doesn't work when being spectated/watched via demo for hitscan anymore btw) but u would have to watch him play more to truly evaluate because source game spectating and demos are dogshit

but if like you said in an earlier reply, if many more shots looked similar to this via spectate then yes he is cheating

This is the weakest ‘evidence’ of cheating I have ever seen. In most of these clips he has a reasonable reason to look through a wall (i.e. pushing out of last —-> look towards second direction) or context is probably missing (player behind is called before clip starts).

What cheat is this even meant to be, I guess walls + aimbot? He obviously doesn’t aimbot which you can tell by playing against him and even in most of these clips he is missing a lot of shots. The ‘aimbot’ in these clips doesn’t flick to the same part of the body every time either, simple aimbots like this that will lock onto people through walls will lock into the exact same part of the model every time.

As far as wallhacking why would someone flick to a target behind a wall if they see them through the wall already? It would just draw suspicion to themselves and it’s not what real wallhackers look like. It’s far more likely that he is just a scout with a high sens or small mousepad who is resetting his view when running towards a fight. If you turned off the xray I’m pretty sure that most of his mouse movements would make complete sense. By the way, The source engine doesn’t even render players client side who are behind a certain amount of walls and a certain distance away, so these clips you show of him ‘flicking’ to someone are not possible using cheats unless he is hacking the pugchamp servers somehow lol.

As far as the video goes I don’t know why it was even made. If you think he’s cheating and particularly if you think he’s toggling why would you post this video? It’s nowhere near strong enough evidence for him to be banned outright so all you are doing is giving him a chance to hide his hacks. If you think you have good enough evidence ask an AC admin to look at the demo (not like any AC admin would try and accuse someone of cheats after looking at an STV) instead of making it a public shitshow. If you make a video people are going to be split about it unless it’s rock solid evidence and if you scare him into toggling off people will doubt your allegation all the more going forward.

Finally if you’re going to make public allegations about a serious matter (as far as video games go) like someone cheating, at least have the balls to not hide behind a layer of irony or a jokey veneer because a lot of people who watched this video didn’t know whether to take it seriously or not (and it makes you look retarded).

You don't have to edit out their names. Just don't make it public to us, unlist the video, report it to admins
