GENIUS IDEA ALERT

so yaknow how there are like csgo execute servers where you can like practice throwing smokes and executing certain plays on different bombsites on different maps? well i just had a genius idea where we do essentially that but for tf2.

you execute certain pushes on all points on all maps, this includes basic midfights to start out each map.
im thinking like 3 midfights, then 12 more rounds where you practice pushing into 2nd, into last, out of 2nd, and out of last, and on the koth maps we could practice like how to do dry fights more correctly.

players spawn in certain positions on certain classes and are given a basic idea on what they should do to be useful in the fight, but in the end they can do whatever they want.
pushing team wins if defending team either wipes or they cap the point being pushed. defending team wins if the pushing team wipes.

idk how you could work offclasses into this honestly maybe like an opt in to offclass button that will like make it so theres a random offclass on a few rounds (unpredictably so people cant just cheese the system)

i think thats a good basic layout but i have no clue on how to actually create a server capable of doing this. if ur a genius please put some more ideas in here or maybe add me and we can like talk this shit over more bc honestly man this sounds sick as hell.

e: oh also i forgot if we were to ratio defenders to attackers it would be a challenge bc i dont know which team should get player priority

its too intricate and people just wanna play the normal game. you'd be hard pressed to find a team that actually wants to do mid fights only which is extremely easy to set up with a bind.

hooliits too intricate and people just wanna play the normal game. you'd be hard pressed to find a team that actually wants to do mid fights only which is extremely easy to set up with a bind.

i felt like that would be the largest hindrance for a mode such as this, especially since most people would really only be caring enough to learn how to play better when on a team and willing to improve and in an environment such as this where you wouldnt be on ur actual team it would seem weird and cohesion would be extremely off (plus the presumably large skill gap between individuals would be annoying on both ends)

but i would still want to test this out at least since ive never tried it personally.

dm servers die after 30 minutes and u think people will play a mode that requires a brain

I feel like this would be pretty redundant because there is already places for DM practice, you can practice rocket jumping on jump maps or just on the actual maps, and if you want to practice a map with your team you just scrim it.

people have already thought about mid fight gamemodes

the ideas are really cool but with a community as small as ours its just not possible

if youve ever won 5-0 or gotten 5-0'd the entire scrim was midfight practice

idk why we need practice with wiping on mids

Decent idea Mark, but I just don't see it happening.
Hate to say it, but I'm out.

retake works partly because it doesn't require a full server. it's perfectly fine (and arguably more useful) to play 2v2, or 3v2 or whatever, and people can flex to whatever role they're given.

in tf2 this basically requires 10 people in a server to be useful, players on the important classes (including med (lol)), it's just never gonna work in practice unless it's a pickup system (in which case why not just play a pug)

Midfights are pretty easy to do. Just reset the round after every mid cap w console commands. Very good way of scrimming, but I've never seen anyone attempt it

I think someone tried to make a plug-in for it at some point, but only read about it like once
