I share a small addiction to horror and supernatural films. and I'm really paranoid about the shit I see in it and I pay attention to every detail because I'm crazy like that. I love this shit.

SO, if you got anything anyone has not heard about, please share it, because eventually I'm gonna get rid of Facebook after I get my website up for work so I need something to keep me updated. If you double post or something its no worries just keep this on subject.

Starting this off I got my eye on two little gems here, I'm waiting for The Lighthouse (the guys who did The Witch) and, Antlers.

I'm a big fan of found-footage horror movies, I loved the shit out of As Above So Below and The Tunnel.

They're maybe not the best, but I was a fan.

i watched midsommar recently and was very disappointed. i felt like there was so much they could do with it and the intro was incredibly scary but they basically only did very generic cult shit in the end :(

dude I was literally just telling someone last week how weak that movie was, it was trippy but, it was whatever. the trailer oversold it, the trailer gave me like, vibes that I got from The Void.

go watch the older film, A Hole In The Ground. That shit was actually really good and I dont even wanna spoil it.

HUGE fan of extraterrestrial horror, scariest movie Ive seen was "Dark Skies" shit kept me up for a whole week.

If you guys like low budget campy movies Id really suggest "Pontypool", its a psychological thriller from the inside of a radio station in a small town overrun by a strange mind altering virus, easily one of my fav films.

you should checkout the books, pretty good series, much more complicated version of the film. also speaking of book versions, you should really read The Ritual if you have already seen the film, its like a way more scarier version with a much more intense ending. I don't even wanna spoil the main difference between the book and film, its pretty metal.

Rewatched Event Horizon again and I still love it and still upset that it will never get a director's cut.

TeoAnyone here watched lake mungo? Seen a lot of praise going its way lately.

Ya I watched it, I thought it was a very good slow cinema style found footage but I don't think it deserves its cult status. It is a testament of what a filmmaker is capable of doing with a limited budget, much like the original Blair Witch.

Going to watch lake mungo tonight, last night I watched In The Tall Grass. I dont want to spoil it, but I will say that for a moment I thought it was gonna get really over complicated, like one of those movies that have very few "rules" as to what can and does happen. It has some cool visuals though. In the end I still keep thinking 1408 is my favorite film adaption of Kings work. I liked the new It movies, but book ruins them for me. They could had kept true to the book if they had just did a three movie deal, but instead they just cut up all the parts that didn't make it into the mini-series and tried to make it their own.

watched lake mungo, it wasn't bad, not super crazy about it, but as a practical documentary style film it was pretty cool. but man sometimes, idk who mixed the sound on that, but there would be a lot of parts that had the background noise wicked high and you couldn't hear the person getting interviewed, or they would just crank up random noises way too loud in parts of the film that wasnt even scary.

also watched deathwatch, I cant figure out why it had so many mixed reviews. it was like silent hill meets dog soldiers. the entire thing had some cool sound design, I want to comment on a few other things but again I feel like I'm gunna spoil shit so:

Show Content
The barbed wire soldiers, where really freaking creepy, they way they moved and that traditional animation effect. Just the three of them standing together looking like fucked up scarecrows. Also loved the part with the German soldier trying to hide from everything but completely covering himself in mud, then his one eye just opens up and he's drawing his knife. I really enjoyed this movie, wish I could find an HD download, but I guess Ill just have to buy a copy.

me and the boys watched Veronica at a sleepover and it was honestly one of the better horror movies ive seen. entire thing is in spanish however, but the cinematography and the child actors were phenomenal and it's
on Netflix! Very good horror movie if you're into ghosts, spirit, and ouija boards

I really like the artistic choice to make it a 'day time horror' with the bright and vibrant colors and leaving the horror to lay in the appalling practices of a cult, but agree that the plot was lacking.

spoiler ahead:

What let me down was the ending, it was a overly dramatic murder of the boyfriend who may not have been the best dude but definitely didn't deserve to be killed like that just because he was struggling with the disconnect. I wanted some other deeper meaning and questions to ask myself at the end like Hereditary, but yeah didn't get that this time. Overall felt like 2 and half hours of build up just to be let down.

Recently watched Eyes Wide Shut for the first time and though it's not really a horror, i still thought it was pretty scary in it's weirdness.

I saw it in theaters as well, was really impressed. I actually got it in HD the other day on iTunes, I really wanted to watch it again with subtitles. It was a lot to take in during the first viewing on the big screen, the dialect and accents. But I also just really wanted to sit and pause the movie on the fucked up parts.

watched The Ritual on netflix the other day and it was pretty good and pretty scary, definitely worth watching.

just watched The Babadook and holy shit it was good and really scary. it did an amazing job of bring the heavy themes to a tumultuous lead character and the horrors that go with them. solid A+

You need to read the book man it’s 10x more scary

edit:

also the original evil dead is on netflix and i gotta say its awesome being able to watch it at that level of quality.

So me and carpet went back and forth talking about what was better, evil dead 2, or the original. Now I went back and watched the recent upload on Netflix (the version I had was mostly a dvd remaster in SD). Now I get people liked how the 2nd version was more humor based, but honestly, the horror was really impressive in the first. I mean if you really got deep into it, sat and watched with good headphones with the volume cranked, the sound design was creepy as fuck. The small details with the book haunting the area, I mean right in the beginning alone literally tries killing the group on the road with a major car accident. The sound of the chair hanging on the porch hitting over and over while the group discovers no wind was even around to cause it, they even went as far as to provide no ambience or creepy soundtracks over it, they just had the sound of the seat hitting over and over, loud as fuck, hinting the house was alive and inpatient, it’s anxiety for newcomers present.

Don’t even get me started on how creepy the first basement scene was, it reminded me of my youth, age 9 when back in my old house in Flint Michigan, we had apparently had a basement, a large crawl space under our house so you could work the water piping. We had huge issues one summer with our water and my dad tried working on it, we had a small 4:3 like door covered in on carpet, never knew it was even around until my dad ripped up the floor and opened it. He tried getting into the crawl space so he could see how our kitchen was loosing water pressure. In the end he was too big and made me go down and find out what pipe was fucked up. I’m talking huge dead spiders everywhere, webs, bugs I had no idea what kind dead on the floor, mold, shit growing on pipes. I lasted 10 mins before I screamed for him to drag me up worst part was he had a hard time reaching me and had to try climbing down and lifting me, squeezing me thru the tight space and getting nasty shit all over me.

This film, dragged every submerged horror that was planted In my brain. The animation alone was way ahead of its time, the voice work, the redubs, the violence, it was so dark and surreal.

The 2nd film captured this but it only charming. Your thoughts?

Edit: I did also really enjoy the remake of this version, it really captured what this was going for, the acting started off a little stiff but the rest of the film was pretty great. (Except that new intro, that shit was amazing).
