I believe that you can see buff particles on cloaked spies but I'm not 100% sure

Maybe you hit cloak way to late going around the corner and were still giving off smoke. It's also a major spam spot, I shoot chokes points all the time as both a deterrent and to spy check. It's very common for someone to run spy on B.
