Hello tf.tv. I'm here to discuss a league where high school students compete with each other across the nation in multiple titles to win a scholarship. The league is called High School e-Sports league. Now the actual reason why I'm bringing this up is because i need support to get Team Fortress 2 into this league. You can support getting TF2 in the league by filling out this game suggestion.

Thank you.

I tried getting my school on board with tf2 with their esports club since they are partnered with the High School Esports League but all they talk about is how much better overwatch is. Hopefully this being on TFTV could help change their minds

Overwatch is better for a program like this. Not because it's a better game but because there are so many more Overwatch players=more teams=more HS participation.

team fortress 2 is a free game that is more accessible to people without putting any money in

edit: you guys are so negative oh my goodness, they can literally just try the game competitively and see if they like it for free, I don't know what's wrong with that or why that's a negative as you guys make it out to be. Jesus Christ.

doesn't matter when you compare the popularity of each game which is pretty much the only thing that counts when being considered for these types of programs.

For something like high school esports wouldn't fortnite be absolute hell to coordinate? You'd need a way to get around 100 high schoolers in the same server on multiple occasions and implement some sort of automatic point-scoring system. For tf2 at least you'd only need to coordinate 2 teams of 6 people, although I guess the number of high schools with 6 tf2 players might be pretty low.

Put in my support. I remember talking to our schools esports advisors about starting a TF2 team and his reply was "not enough interest". If this gets accepted then that would be amazing. LETS GO TITANS

lewdrudeandnudeglasswhere are these schools that have "esports advisors"throughout the country, you can persuade your skool to get a esports club

only thing is that most schools will make you follow student athlete grading rules, so you can't just coast your classes if you start a team.

also a thing to mention, your school doesn't need to have the high school esports stuff for your suggestion to count
another thing is they have summer open seasons, which means you can play with whoever you want on your team, regardless if they go to your school or not.
just fill out the game suggestion already tbh

i mean i go to a college of several thousands of people where the only game they acknowledge as an "esport" is league

i asked the gaming club if they hosted tf2 and they just plain asked me what tf2 was, needless to say that the interest for tf2 as an esport just wasnt there

if its unlikely for a collegiate tf2 league to develop i doubt the average run-of-the-mill high school would be willing to jump on board with tf2, in terms of support, playerbase, etc

Am I the only one that believe that our education system should NOT be involved in e-sports? (I'm ok with video game clubs tho in general). The only reason I accept sports at schools is cause It is healthy for your body to participate in those activities.

If it does happen one day I can accept it but I'd rather it not be there in the first place

You'd be surprised, there is quite a large player base in my local highschool and they aren't just run of the mill pubbers, many of them have done TF2Center/mixed before. A lot of my friends that I've introduced into Comp TF2 have been quite interested from what I've experienced. There's a larger player count here for TF2 than there is for LoL

E-Sports isn't going to replace gym. It's extracurricular activities, It's not enforced by the curriculum.
I agree with you on your notions but I don't think that E-Sports being part of school curriculum is coming anytime in the near future

Glad to see that there is interest from HSEL in TF2. Will definitely push for this at my school if TF2 comes to the HSEL circuit.

How soon would TF2 be introduced? I only have one year left and would be disappointed to miss this if it were to happen.

thought this was from HSEL themselves haHAA

just saying, they said they got 40 votes for tf2. fortnite got 90 and got in the league sadly so basically we need 50 more people to suggest tf2 so it can be in the league.
