MenachemWhy is the SSD addon is not listed on the new download page? Should I stop using it?

It was removed in 6.5.4 since disk performance optimizations were unified in that version. Remove it, as it is outdated and does not run anymore.

I would also recommend reading the changelogs for each version to know if there's an extra upgrade step.

fizzwhizHow does "cl_ragdoll_fade_time -3" (and -1) work?

cl_ragdoll_fade_time is the offset from the current time that the ragdoll will begin fading. Negative values just ensure that the fade out happens immediately.

fizzwhizI thought it was unnecessary. Can't one just type in the module name itself to switch to the next quality?

It is useful for quick comparisons of different quality levels, especially if you bind up and down to a key. Even without a binding, entering the same command into console is still easier.

fizzwhizDistracting in that distant textures may suddenly change when approached?

Yes, I believe many people noticed that, as well as an issue where textures seemed to have steps of decreasing quality at certain distance intervals.

So I installed these vpk (compquality no addons), cleaned my tf2 cfg files and put the vpk in my custom folder and launched tf2. On launch the console only spits out echos from the comfig file and exec 0 commands from the compquality preset (exec presets/compquality is in autoexec). No clue what I did wrong, and any help would bee great :).

It is supposed to be executed in autoexec but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have double checked names and they are correct.

I can confirm this. I need to manually exec the preset/compquality or add command in custom.cfg for it to properly execute (compquality)

It's really a shame that are forced to use the vpk in order to have the most updated version. I don't want all the commands that are included and would like to be able to remove them.

What commands do you not want? You can use the no-preset VPK in order to have an entirely custom config.

I don't want any of the sound changes.

I don't know how to edit VPK's so I would still be forced to have all that stuff I think.

You can either use the mastercomfig no preset VPK, which you can find here: https://github.com/mastercoms/mastercomfig/releases/latest or you can put all the default sound settings you want to revert into your custom.cfg.

If you wanted you could install gcfscape, or use the vpk converter in the tf folder to view the files within the vpk and change them accordingly.

But editing the config just makes it harder to update.

If people want to go through the trouble to do it that is up to them. It is easier to just drag an drop and play thanks to you :).

But the actual config is executing? Also what the contents of your custom folders, do they have cfg/ folders in them?

Check to see if you have any upload choke.

Great work on this project! One thing I would love to see added is a config in between "highquality" and "maxquality" for camerawork in casts.

I found in my testing that the maxquality config dips below 60fps often in gamemodes that aren't sixes. I tried the highquality config, and the FPS was fine, but the lower level model and texture detail was quite noticeable on the stream.

I know this is quite niche and is also pretty dependent on hardware, but I think this level of config would be useful to get casts to look similar between different producers.

For reference, I was able to get 60+ fps in all gamemodes using the max settings (except only 4xMsaa in antialiasing) inside the video settings menu. I would find this type of config super useful for myself and other producers.

Yeah, I've actually been wanting to do this sort of thing for a while but haven't gotten around to it since I didn't know there was interest. I will try to make one soon. What do you think the name of the preset should be?

Cache11031992I am very weak in English))), but I would like to improve my cfg configuration for maximum performance and smooth gameplay without friezes and lags. I play Counter-Strike: Source. Thanks so much. I need your help and advice on editing my cfg config.

Well, you can start by basing your config off of mine instead of the other way around. That will ensure you get the best values and commands for what you want. Also, please use Pastebin to paste config files instead of posting it in the thread.

mastercomsWhat do you think the name of the preset should be?

Maybe something as simple as "castquality". That would make sense to me, but I'm not sure if it could have other applications outside of casts. A more generic take could just be "higherquality" or even "ultraquality" (kinda sounds higher than max, though).

Thank you for the new release! I have one question though. How do I know I have aa_msaa_16x on for the Max Quality preset? The advanced video options still says I have the antialiasing mode set to none, not even to 8x MSAA. I've looked through my custom cfg, and it doesn't seem like I have any conflicting commands to never enable it. I've had this problem of being unable to use AA since 6.4.0.
