b4nnyGo watch WarOwl or Greekgod or any new TF2 player playing competitive mode for the first time. They didn't care nor notice any issues with the enforced graphics settings. Your perspective is biased because you are too attached to your FPS configs. Level playing field, standardization and accessibility is a necessity for the integrity of the competitive mode long term. That said, they should definitely add as many commands/settings as possible to the options menus so that FPS config level graphics can still be achieved while maintaining fairness.

warowl's mic and headphones together cost more than my computer b4nny. You cannot expect everyone to have top of the line systems especially considering the age of this game.

all these scouts flying and standing straight up shooting their legs around like sticky hands is one of the funniest things ive seen in this game in a long time

How to do the soda popper exploit:
equip soda popper and milk
kill yourself via bind in spawn with the milk out
go back to where you died
switch to your mad milk
hold down m1 while looking at the dropped milk and then pick it up

Game runs like dead horse even on NICE systems if the parts are not specifically chosen for this piece of shit 10 year old game.
With a R7 1700 @ 4ghz, 16gb DDR4 3200, and a GTX 970 i still get FPS drops far below what i consider acceptable in pubs without a config. To make matters worse for some reason the source engine feels like utter garbage if you don't keep your FPS high super high. No idea why this is but the game from a technical standpoint is a turd. I have no issue with them enforcing ingame settings but only if they bring there game up to 2018 standards. Why the fuck do i get a better experience in Overwatch and Fortnite on high settings than i do with TF2 on a stripped down config? This is completely unacceptable. Honestly it would probably be easier from the devs to reset the codebase and port over to a new engine (Unreal 4 preferably but being Valve @ least give us Source 2) than it would be for them to patch this mess.

you can do it without soda popper also guillotine works as well, it just needs a throwable

b4nnyBut of course, more settings available and more optimization would be great, as long as it's accessible for everyone, even the newest players.

are better defaults (fov, etc) and more in-game customization options (replacing the need for handmade, ultra-complex autoexec files) among the feedback you've communicated to valve in the past? if so, how did that conversation go?

it just matters so much fucking more than whether they unbalance the panic attack for the fourth time.

The defaults are beyond terrible. The steam overlay covers your uber meter on Medic with the default hud. The default net settings feel like you are playing with 100 ping. Red is possibly the worst color they could have chosen for there hit numbers. A TON of essential settings you need if you don't want to play with a disadvantage are not enabled by default. Worst of all the game gets unacceptable (from a competitive standpoint) FPS drops without a config on most systems.

LOL @ everyone - fraging me because i criticized Valves productiveness and decision making because they finely implemented shit that should have been in the game 6 years ago.
No need to suck the devs off because they finally decided to empty a couple piss bottles.
As much as i love this game (played for almost 10 years now) Valve hasn't delivered on even the basics and i am tired of seeing this game rot because of there malice/incompetence/indifference.

sometimes i wonder why they keep resisting in doing the most basic changes to the default settings and honestly the only answer i can find, its that they´re too damm scared of pissing off the hat hoarders
i can´t see any other explanation, i just can´t .... maybe i´m missing something idk

wickedplayer494- Valve appears to be having a little bit of a referendum on random critical hits, as a new question will be inserted into the survey rotation (thanks to /u/DukeBruno123 for the highlight!)

John SchoenickWe're working on a mandatory update for Team Fortress 2. The notes for
the update are below. We should have the update ready soon.

- John

------------------------------------------------------------

- Added smoke to the Punk's Pomp
- Made the Sky High Fly Guy and The Hot Case paintable
- Fixed the Short Circuit still performing its old area-of-effect attack
when firing
- Fixed Scouts taking to the skies
- Fixed thumbnail for ctf_foundry

Along with that bug, I would also like to know why soldiers with gunboats deal 80 damage to themselves if they also hit an enemy (even if they perform a rocket-jump, which are said to have reduced self-inflicted damage according to the item's description)

answering this a day late: that's always been in the game because the game's definition of "self-inflicted blast damage" is more specifically "self-inflicted blast damage that doesn't damage any other players". blast jumps that splash damage enemy players even a little bit don't get the self-inflicted damage reduction for that reason.

Because it would be kinda retarded to point blank someone for 112 and fly away to safety while only taking 18 yourself

I'm mostly think about the scout encounter indoors or when they run into you to force you to do 80dmg to yourself

YeeHawAll_Over_RSi wonder what their reasoning for keeping the forced graphical settings is, especially in such a restricting way and everyone had been complaining about it since MYM. 'level playing field' is pretty bullshitso new players who watch streams wont be turned off of the game

That is utterly ridiculous. The ones who actually get viewers in this game dont play TF2's MM and probably won't until it is in a usable state. Optimize the game to be playable without a GFX config and force it across the board or not at all.

Judging by other people's experiences I doubt I'll bother playing mm 6s if something isn't done about the cheaters. At least when one shows up in casual you can just leave.

Having hidden elo in pubs is kind of cool in a way but I just realized most of us are only going to get matched with people who... really want to do well in a pub. With the good and bad things that come out of it.

Playing as and against pyro seems much more reasonable now. The part about it "requiring aim" is kind of a lie, you can still wiggle and flail, but since the damage ramps up now, the chances of you getting instamelted by an accidental lick of flame aren't very high. As scout or soldier I actually feel like I can react to a pyro trying to mouse 1 me again. Dragon's fury and jetpack updates are also quite good.

I think the new panic attack might be a real sleeper weapon. I've been trying it on pyro but some of you 6s guys might really want to consider it on soldier.

b4nnyGo watch WarOwl or Greekgod or any new TF2 player playing competitive mode for the first time.

Then how come it's not forced on any currently successful esport

Last i checked modern esports games don't have FPS configs. Then again modern esports titles are playable without them.

They don't, however what's to stop devs from locking graphic settings in their ranked modes?
