Although real talk I think the existence of girl/boy scouts is akin to girl only and boy only schools - outdated, and a relic from when people believed girls and boys needed to be protected from each other. Not to mention how messy it gets with non-cis people.

MarxistThis makes sense in a lot of areas as the scouts are having a lot of trouble recruiting - they already do mixed boy/girl scouts here because there simply aren't enough scouts to have separate organizations or trained/willing leaders for each.
yeah they do that in aus for mostly that reason, or at least it was when i did cub scouts/scouts like a decade ago

I think the boy scout is under political and sponsor pressure to make this happen, when the boy scouts let gay people in they lost a lot of sponsors almost bank bankrupt them, so its happening again.

weird to see ppl take scouts so seriously in america, when i was in scouts in england it was mostly pissing about in the woods burning other group's stuff and leaving dead fish in peoples tents. also tons of gay stuff

Being in a venturing crew myself, I really don't see a difference with this happening. I feel it will get more members involved especially when both your sister and brother/ son and daughter can now go to the same events.
I've worked multiple summer camps before too and it was not uncommon to see both girl scouts and boy scouts attending. Though due to the different schedules it would become tedious to work between two different sets of kids.
Though as it is was with boy scouts and adults, it will be quite strict when it comes to separation for things like sleeping quarters and restrooms as it always has.
Ultimately having everyone do the same thing will save move for the BSA and allow for more members and income as is. I've seen first hand too that places aren't doing too well money wise so this will be a welcome change.
