JenkinsI'm really trying to get into this game but for the life of my I can't seem to get a consistent framerate or get rid of microstutters. If I'm by myself or off in a corner of a map somewhere I'm getting 144 fps, but if I can see 1 or 2 people I just start getting stutters and dropping frames. I've tried doing things like playing in windowed, playing on all low settings, playing on all high settings, playing on some low settings and some medium settings, downscaling to 1280x720, turning down resolution scaling or whatever, forcing on v-sync in nvidia control panel; just a mix of everything I could think of or what I could read on random forums and shit. I have a GTX 1070 Founders Edition and an i7 4790k. Am I missing something or am I just bonered until they push an update?

► Main Board: Asus Z87-A ATX
► CPU: Intel i7-4790K @4.7GHz
► SSD: Crucial M4 SSD 250GB
► GPU: ASUS GTX 1070 8GB ROG STRIX OC

Now I haven't been monitoring my framerate but their hasn't been any microstutters.

Would you happen to know if there's a way to limit framerate to see if it's my upload that's causing problems, because that was something that can cause issues, right? Like a console command or something?

I like this game and I think it's really fun (when it works properly). I also want it to be successful and I want Quake to be a relevant esport again because it's a great series.

The netcode is so fucking bad though. I get awful rubberbanding/jitter if I get over 50 ping in this game. It's fine on sub 50 ping and in every other game I play. Lg is the only weapon that functions semi consistently. Rockets/Railgun/Nails/Shotgun decide to go through people or not register on a seemingly random basis and it's really frustrating.

The hitboxes are also awful. Visor/Sorlag/Anarki spamming left and right causes questionable hit registration. Sorlag also doesn't take damage when you shoot her feet with rockets a lot of the time. Rails also like to go through Galena's torso.

I really think they need to redesign the whole netcode and all of the hitboxes before this game gets out of early access. This shit is unacceptable and makes the game very frustrating. No reg airshots make me want to strangle myself with my mouse cord.

They actually are substantially changing the netcode to something seemingly resembling previous Quake games, as they said in the last QnA. Quote:

We currently use an animation-based system where we simulate player animations on the server, and rig up a lower-polygon, fatter version of the champion, independent from armor selection. For the pace of our game, we felt the additional server CPU usage, and the technical complexity of having to sync up the state of the animation bones and blend tree over the network was not worth having the ability to match up hits to the specific animation. Our solution is to transition to using a static mesh for each character state. (moving, strafing, crouching, jumping, etc.) This also makes supporting rollback much simpler, and should result in a more reliable experience on higher pings.

Put this in your steam launch options and replace the X with whatever you want to cap your fps to.

they're trying way too hard with the special effects like the rain and lg bloom. I understand that the designers want to make quake look amazing but its pretty annoying when you can't even see your target when trying to lg them.

on a gameplay note something i've noticed is that the variety of character health and speeds makes it really fucking hard to predict people in this

i can generally gauge prefires pretty well in reflex despite low hours in it but trying to control pickups and stuff like that in this game feels really awkward at the moment. plus some characters just die in 2 splash rockets even with mega and red which feels equally weird

game makes me sad because the only addition to the series that i enjoy is a somewhat active playerbase. as far as im concerned the varied characters and the natural imbalance that comes with that makes it less fun for me and I hate that there will likely be little to no customization (plus a bunch of other shit) missing bc the devs are obviously more focussed on making money than making a good quake game. it sucks to really enjoy the core mechanics of the series but not be able to play any other games because there are very few equally skilled players to practise against in live and reflex so im forced to play quake champions with all of the features that i hate.

Just to share a QC news (ok, 10 days-old news already) that has something to do with TF2.

Nosfa, a former TF2 competitive player in South America, got qualified to Dreamhack Winter in duel (https://winter.dreamhack.com/2017/10/09/quake-champions-qualifier-update/).

He won the South American qualifier without dropping a map.

Just to share a QC news (ok, 10 days-old news already) that has something to do with TF2.
