How do casters see what the camera man sees?

I've been quite interested in casting and especially how TFTV lets their casters see what the camera man is seeing. Does anyone know exactly how they do it?

they dont, they just both follow the action. im pretty sure the casters are often looking down from above in free cam.

lol?

we have multiple people join the STV relay - each caster joins and the cameraman joins, and then the producer captures the cameraman's view, while the casters have their own controllable views.

for smaller and online-only streams, usually the cameraman and the producer is the same person.

for LANs, casters also have a view of what the camerman is seeing on another monitor so they don't miss out on anything

Huh. Thanks for letting me know. I guess I just thought the casters saw the cameraman's view because they always seemed to be talking about what was being shown. They all just must be on the same page. Sorry for being dumb :P

Nicell guess I just thought the casters saw the cameraman's view because they always seemed to be talking about what was being shown. They all just must be on the same page.

It's more like the inverse of that: the casters watch the game in 3rd person and talk about whatever they see and when the cameraman hears them talking about a specific person they switch to their POV
the same is basically true about stats, the producer highlights whichever stats the casters are talking about
the only time when it's the other way around is at lan (as mentioned above) and sometimes in pregame when going over rosters
can't speak for anyone else but i usually try to link them the viewframe which shows a live output of what's on the screen for the stream

if you keep watching you will notice countless unavoidable instances of casters not noticing what a cameraman is showing and vice versa

Typically an on-the-ball cameraman will *say* when the casters aren't looking at something the cameraman is looking at in mumble (since they've set it up so you can't hear them) that way we can catch ourselves being stupid. Usually that comes up with kritz switches and spy/sniper plays.

Yeah, I just fly around in 3rd person so I can see everything, with xrays I can catch flanks etc and relay that to the viewers.

I58 was a bit different. We had a monitor for each caster, but we also had a live feed to the stream. We could tell when the camera was on us, on the panel and when it was in game, which meant we had our observers view. I honestly didnt use it much, preferred to fly around since thats what im used to.

Some orgs use a cheat feed that goes into the game server and gives info to the casters and producers, but not everyone is using this anymore cause of how difficult it is to set it up.

Would be cool if there was someway of the cameraman showing the casters his pov, just so we don't end up getting all hyped about a play that they don't catch or if someone hits a nice shot and the casters miss ot! Not sure how it would be done without a delay but who knows. I can dream

With the cheatfeed I know DavidTheWin whispers/whispered a player's name to the casters in mumble so that they know who to look at when they're going to make a big play. I think that was a pretty good system.

Seems to happen the other way around more than not. You see someone land a double in a corner on the stream while the caster is going on some irrelevant tangent on the middle.
