What do you players think is best way to improve your aim in-game competitive tf2? SOAP dm or mge?

MGE. I have a ton of fun with SOAP dm, but it always seems to be the MGE heroes that come out on top. Which sucks for me because I don't like MGE much. I need to make myself play it, but I can usually feel myself improve because of it. SOAP dm is a great place to practice sniper though.

mge imo. dm is good and all, but a lot of kills are gotten on people not even looking/shooting at you. mge forces you to hit your shots bc its 1v1 and no ones gonna do any dmg for you. then again its just point and click so idk

dm helps you learn how to frag under pressure and it's also somewhat more realistic

complement one with the other and you'll definitely improve

Well, I feel that my DM is fairly stronger because of MGE, especially as a roamer, as I get put into situations that can be commonly trained for by MGE, but SOAPDM also helps for real game, big fight situations in a more hectic environment.

I've come to the conclusion that just playing dm or mge doesn't help me personally. Playing against better players helps me. In my own experience, playing against people who are worse than you makes you play on their level and it doesn't force you to hit those really hard shots. You can settle for missing three shots and then you might hit the other three because the other guy isn't good enough to kill you.

I personally recommend dm for warming up or for getting out of slumps and mgeing against better players for actually improving aim. Otherwise just play a lot. Pugs, scrims, highlander, whatever, as long as you're challenging yourself.

DM is better for scouts and demos, assuming you don't use stickies, and MGE is better for Soldiers. But, for the most part it's personal preference.

MGE for soldiers, DM for everything. Unless you place restrictions on the way you play in MGE, it's not that helpful. It's just really dumb if people cross a normal "team line" where normally they'd run into a soldier or another scout and have to retreat. You normally can't circle-strafe in a team situation. Though DM will have much more stupid deaths, instant respawn makes it much more bearable. It also helps to practice shooting unaware targets so you don't choke when you get the perfect flank on a medic.

I like DM for scout and sniper to just warmup and pressure situations. helped me personally with match jitters. but MGE for aim.

Why not you and noid? Heck, even 2v2's MGE would be interesting. Allow medics and you could even do combo vs scout/"roamer".

Stanleyyou can already do that with ultiduo can't you?

I thought ultiduo was just a single map with normal spawns playing for KOTH. I figure ammomod/MGE 2's would be respawn when both die, spawn together randomly, play on normal maps/areas.

i dont think its so much the format as how you play it

there are tons of things you can do in both to inflate your score

train to get better when it matters, not just to be better at training

I prefer DM over MGE because it gives you a more "realistic" feel than MGE does. MGE is good if you're not comfortable with your 1v1s, but you really shouldn't be in a 1v1 as much as possible anyway.

DM for practicing focusing one target in the middle of a clusterfuck or for learning how to keep cool in those kinds of situation and deal effective damage/help out your teammates.

MGE of overall aim practicing, movement, and more personal DM aspects.

Personally I don't like DM as much because I'll always end up spawning, moving to the action, then immediately get raped by a Scout who spawned right behind me a second after I spawned. Or I'll get into the mid just as everyone else on my team dies, and I'm stuck fighting 3+ players alone.

For scouts,

MGE = Best for practicing aim because the opponent will always be focused on making it hard for you to hit them, while in DM you spend a lot of time shooting soldiers running in a straight line in the back. Obviously, Its really good for practicing for 1v1 situations. I find scout vs soldier MGE to be really good practice because you get to work on your Projectile and Hitscan movement.

DM = Best for practicing group fights, Playing in disadvantageous situations (2v3, against a soldier while youre inside of the house on badlands etc, hitting the easy shots on unaware people), and proper movement when more than 1 person is firing at you.

Whichever you enjoy the most, it's not like one will have a significant increase of skill over the other. Personally, I would only dm or mge if there isn't a pug available to play.

either one work, but i find i warm up easier in mge as scout...

in dm you have to fight things, react quicker... sudden 1 v 1s or something you have to play... so that is helpful to practice that.
