Ok
so I'm a colorblind medic main (strong deutan, red/green) and red stickytraps on any grass textures in the game are really fucking hard to see. How would I go about changing the color of red stickies to say, like yellow or white or something? Also would it be legal to use in ESEA?

you wouldn't be able to change the textures of stickies on sv_pue 2 servers as reskins don't work on those servers and sv_pure 2 is getting used from every competetive server

If no in-game solution exists, consider turning up color settings in your graphics card's control panel. Either AMD or Nvidia, it should be really easy to turn your saturation levels up all of the way, for example.

custom skins definitely are a no go but you could play around with nvidia inspector (or whatever the corresponding program is called for AMD cards)
i just did a quick google search and that seems to be one thing people have done (in different games couldn't find anything relating to tf2 but it should probably apply as well)

It doesn't help for this kind of issue, and it's actually really shit in TF2.

you might can do something to make the particles more vibrant using the rocket smoke replacer but idk if that works on sv_pure still

colorblind mode just makes the game put little jars over people's heads when they get peed on

I saw a thing on TV the other day, may or not be relevant, but it let someone who had severe color blindness be able to distinguish colors with a special pair of glasses. Maybe look into color correction glasses for color blindness? Other than that Idk.

Those glasses don't really make you see colors you can't see, they only dampen the frequencies you can see properly, and after some time your brain accomodates and "lets" you differentiate colors better. Think about how, after putting on sunglasses, it takes a while until you see perfectly.

Since colorblindness is very personal and varies from person to person (even between people with the same type), they are far from perfect. Not to mention the fact that they stop working after you take them off.

How are you using this? I can only use it to capture static images and apply the filter on top of them, but it doesn't seem to work outside of that.

does your monitor have color settings? you could set your green super low but then your game would look like ur wearing old 3d glasses

Serious question, but would adjusting the hue slider in your gpu settings help at all?
Ik it's not a perfect solution, but I'm just interested to know if it makes a difference or not

You could just tell your teammates that you're virtually blind to stickies in grass when on blu and they should compensate for you - they should be looking out for that kind of thing anyways but it'd be even more important to do if your medic has trouble seeing them on certain maps. I wouldn't blame your vision so much as the people walking in front of you not doing/saying anything about a trap - even if you're a player who can see stickies clearly - typically if you're a med by the time you see them, and recognize what they are, you've died anyways lol.

It may even be helpful since I assume you've likely developed a movement or pathing habit that avoids green textures so maybe you've even got funky movement that attackers won't expect :D
