I like how you've written more than John by now and he made a much better and more coherent point in his short post than you have in your multi-part dumpster defence essay.

JohnMilterAlso lets be clear, If ELVtv was to release the private chatlog pastebin proof your guys are so hungry for how unprofessional of them would that be, I am sure it would incite some real indignation. I for one hope to see the chat logs and have already started my essay why releasing private conversations is wrong.

I checked the slack in search of what animosity was brought about between evl and sigafoo in regards to the problems, but there are no logs between the 15th and the 17th.

However, this probably means these issues arose in mumble, probably following a cast between sigafoo and gecks, or maybe just steam messaging.

Buddy, jm is known for posting pastebins of rumors and shit like that. Save yourself some effort and check post history before charging in like you've gotta win the special Olympics.

I think its a good time to bring out the old "Sorry I don't speak UGC silver" and let him look like a idiot. Or keep things going because I have popcorn and need some entertainment.

He also came off to us as he only casted for evlTV/eXtv because he was interested in gaining more exposure for himself, rather than representing evlTV as a casting organization.

This is the line that concerns me and the only point I feel like addressing.

It is unfair to characterize Sigafoo's motivations as being singularly for his own eXposure. eXposure is undoubtedly important to people like Sigafoo and Myself who want to grow their eSports career but its far from our only motivation. I believe eXposure is equally important to a group called evlTV. On one hand you're criticizing Sigafoo for making eXposure based decisions and on the other hand eXposure was definitely a factor in your decisions as well. We all want to help the community but of course there is a bit of self interest, that's human instinct.

You guys cut Sigafoo because of a business decision. Business is business. I would have handled it differently but we all make different decisions. As you stated the eXecution was handled poorly and Sigafoo was obviously upset. I've made videos under somewhat similar circumstances and his turned out a lot better than mine. While I know damage control is difficult it's disappointing to see you guys respond to his video by slandering his motivations as a caster. If you think your post acts as an apology to Sigafoo and the community for how you treated him, ctrl+f Sorry.

I'm glad you're communicating and planning on improving your transparency and decision making. All are admirable goals. Best of luck moving forward.

Worst part about it is it's TF2, I get why you want quality casters but get your best people in. Everyone does a bit of play by play casting, it isn't a problem, I don't mind listening to it. It's much more interesting than trying to get someone who knows fuck all about how to play the game at a High level in try to analyse the game. I don't have the sort of casting style to do Play by play but if I cast for Blackout or TF.TV (When Admirable let's his guard down) I will do it if necessary, very few people will complain.

Thing I don't get is why EVL feel it necessary to totally fuck someone over for some outdated notion there needs to be a "play-by-play" caster and an analytical caster. Listen to Admirable/Sideshow cast, they both cover each area, there is literally no reason to be so obsessed with this notion. It won't affect viewer numbers or casting quality, this is based on years of casting experience and watching casts. What will affect casting quality and/or numbers is getting a bad caster, considering Sigafoo is one of the best for HL, you should not be discouraging him. Really poor choice tbh, easily avoidable with some common sense.

HildrethThing I don't get is why [evlTV] feel[ s] … there needs to be a "play-by-play" caster and an analytical caster. Listen to Admirable/Sideshow cast, they both cover each area, there is literally no reason to be so obsessed with this notion.

That's great, when either one caster or both casters can cast color, but when the entire caster roster is exclusively play-by-play, you get "Jim that play was awesome!" "Yes, Bob, that play was, even in my words, awesome!". You get the "we're both saying the same thing" show that that's no fun for anyone to watch.

Unless there is a drinking game involved, in which case liver damage ensues. Hilarity for everyone.

edited: specify that a caster may be PxP, but can do color as opposed to can do only PxP and nothing else

It's not that they needed 1 Play by Play caster and 1 Analytical caster, it's that they weren't adapting to each other's casting styles well enough.

jeeringsoleThere are many factors that finalized our lineup for tonight's cast. Sigafoo was not adapting well to working with another PxP (play by play) caster, Gecks. It's a very difficult thing to do, and is in no way a negative reflection on his casting abilities. We told Sigafoo he would be good for grand finals, so as long as he would be good working with Gecks. During some of the play-offs casts Sigafoo indicated to me that he did not like working with Gecks because of this incompatibility, and went on to say that he felt Gecks should be cut.

I wanted to stay out of this discussion, but I decided that when one of the best people in the TF2 community is being defaced, I must at least tell another side of the story.

I like to say I discovered Sigafoo as a caster, but the truth is, he was born for the mic. He started as a color commentator, and I as his play-by- play, and together we casted numerous games for eXtv, UGC, and just some fun ones on the side. He was one of my favorites to cast with, as he was always on time, always professional, fun to work with, and extremely intelligent about all things TF2. Regardless of what you think about his casting, playing career, or highlander in general, you would agree with me that there is not a more genuine, harder working, self-improving guy out there. After every cast, he'd ask me what he could do better. He was always making adjustments and working on his style, which in turn improved our style as a pair. He took this approach to everything he did with TF2, from streaming to mentoring to signing weapons to playing to pubbing to lobbying to interacting with fans and enemies alike. If you need evidence, watch any stream, watch any cast, watch any POV of his. Have a 2 minute conversations with him.

Casting the grand finals of UGC Platinum is a huge deal for Highlander casters. As someone who has put in the time every Monday for months to cast regular season games to then be passed up on the season finals, it hurts. You like to think that the TF2 community is a big, warm, fuzzy family that you don't need to prove yourself in to be accepted. Just give your time and best shot, and you'll be golden. Unfortunately, that's not always the case, and many people are trying to make money off of this. Therefore they make decisions that short-term hurt the casters who've showed up every day, but long-term help the organization. If these decisions are relayed in a timely and professional manner, no harm no fool. It's still sad, and leaves you to cast the Silver Grand Finals on eXtv3 (true story- still enjoyed it, though!), it's a business move, and not personal. If it's conveyed in a less than professional manner, it feels personal. It feels like you've been taken for granted and that all your work is for nothing.

My first Grand Finals, Season 14, was also my last. I was so happy to have landed the gig with Sigafoo, and the cast was one of the ages (mTs' s first win!!!). After the cast, UGC offered to pay me for my time. I told them to give the money to Sigafoo. They said that was unlikely, because Sigafoo had told them to give his share to me. That's Sigafoo in a nut shell (we decided the money would go to eXtv's Patreon campaign).

I'm not going to speak directly about this incident, because I wasn't there. From things I've heard, there have been mis-truths perpetuated in this thread. I won't comment about that, but I will say that anyone who knows Sigafoo will know the truth. And that truth is no one deserves to be taken for granted, cast away, and feeling like all their hard work was for nothing.

P.S. Another "Sigafoo in a nutshell story": he and I (and C0ld) arrive at Windy City Rendez-Vous at the same time and want to go say hi to Lange. Lange is streaming and on camera. I say, "we'll catch him later." Sigafoo says, "Let's both go kiss him on the cheek." Guess which we did.
