alfa to The Last Resort
posted in News

August 5, 2015

As we reported previously, The Last Resort was having issues getting their roamer ShaDowBurn to i55 due to the United Kingdom denying his visa several times despite the best efforts of the community otherwise. With very little time left for his visa to be reapproved, the team decided to look at other options.

Initially, the team looked at Rising, whose last appearance at a high level was as a roamer for Season 19 ETF2L winners Übersexuals. However, he was unable to take enough time off in order to ensure that he could safely make it on time for the group stages beginning on Friday.

Thus, in a surprise move, the team has picked up the services of alfa, who most recently played for Street Hoops eSports but is most well-known for his long tenure as part of i55 attendees Ascent. His addition marks the first known intercontinental team playing in a LAN environment, and his knowledge of North American play will be a boon in helping counter their strategies during the intercontinental tournament.

On one hand, it makes sense since he's lan proven, on the other hand, there were some up-and-coming eu players (and mge shitlords) I would expect to take sdb spot way before I would have guessed alfa

how will alfa and TLR practice? who will they scrim? will they just show up to LAN with a roamer they've never played with before or put up with 150+ ping rockets?

this genuinely makes me worry about TLR's performance, not even taking into consideration how alfa matches up against the other stellar roamers.

considering one of them didn't want to join because he had to put TLR in front of his name, this is probably the best decision

there is no america vs. canada in tf2. it's just north america vs. europe.

Well if they are outsourcing EU spots to the Americans that might as well picked up TLR to play for TLR.

When I first started playing TF2, I played it on a ~2009 Macbook Pro with a wireless Apple mouse and shitty home internet that would freeze whenever anyone used the microwave. Finally got a desktop for the first time this Christmas and by god if it isn't the most amazing thing ever to play at 144 hz with 300 frames.
