It's all a cover-up. ShaDowBurn was kidnapped by the Russian government to program targeting systems for their missiles.

DanceNumbercan you make TLR a legit org and state 'pay' him his 'salary' with donation money.

Could possibly be counted as a bonus. Or how likely would they accept if say shadowburn did "freelance help desk/web development" and made a total of $2000 assuming he paid taxes on it I think that could work. Not sure though on Visa laws / how much work that would require.

HildrethWhy would deny his visa? Only wants to play some vidya games? This world is fucking stupid sometimes...

The Silentes comeback?

Probably not enough money on his account so british visa center has suspicions. You need like mby 500 or more to make sure you can survive on your own also you need to give them fingerprints and other biometric data. Getting uk visa is hell of a clusterfuck. Also I do not understand how being a student in your country of origin is a minus rather than a plus when applying for a visa. That means you have time invested into it and only an idiot would leave uni just to work illegally in the uk

Come on don't give up just because you can't get one player to lan. You can try and get another player, which would be cheaper. I'm sure there's some old prem soldier you could get.

Is there some sort of visa exemption for athletes or people going to international competitions? It would be worth sdb talking to both Russian and UK authorities. Are there no very short term visas for those only planning to stay for a very short amount of time?
The political climate in the UK given recent news right now means that it might be harder for Russian nationals to get visas (Idk if this is actually the case but it's something in the public mind right now).
#60, For other reasons, UK border control is probably extremely vigilant for people being smuggled into the country currently. The easiest way would probably be to have a UK national smuggle him onto a car ferry on one of the more obscure routes such as Rotterdam-Hull. Doubt you'll find anyone willing to do that though.

You can't get an athletic visa for e-sports (especially less popular ones) in most places. There is no central governing body on e-sports to endorse the competitors' visa application (which is required for an athletic visa).

This is indeed a shitty situation, really gutted for TLR, and Shadowburn, I donated specifically to see him play as I was excited. I don't want my money refunded, Shadowburn can keep it or donate it to i55 prizepool, I am just gutted for him if he cannot some to the event.

Honestly I am going to say this again, but this might be great time for valve to step in and help us get shadowburn to LAN since he is one of the most exciting players to watch in the game, maybe we can get their attention through hyping up a thread on reddit on /tf2 or /steam and show it to valve

This would be a cool publicity stunt and would help the tf2 (comp) community grow

I'd do it personally but I feel like shadowburn doing it himself or someone from TLR would have a bigger impact, and more authenticity

Now lets pray boys

What if Valve endorsed it? Probs still a long shot, but it's not impossible.

I'd email Eric Smith and/or see if anyone who went to valve could get in contact.
I'd also still mention the donations that were given for the i55 fundraiser for TLR. I think the main issue is the british government is that they want proof you can financially support yourself, if sdb explains there's been a fundraiser for him to come they might be more accommodating.

Well if it is the UK government we could do a petition on https://petition.parliament.uk. We won't get 10k signatures required for them to give us an official response but it's sort of thing that we may be able to get some sort of media reaction about. If I started a petition, I would then try writing to local media to explain the story. Sadly sort of campaign's likelihood of being successful (with 4 weeks to go) is unlikely. But I feel like we got to do something, it's such a travesty in my mind.

Since you're interested in promoting this story, do you know how far and wide it's gone on sites like Reddit and Tumblr? If there's no posts or publicity there, why not start there if you want this promoted?
