The longer I sit here and read his messages the more bewildered I become.

I thought I was talking to a bot at that point, it honestly did not seem like an answer an actual person would give

according to plotchy and co. - snoven probably wasn't originally going to steal the unusuals, but decided just to run with it once the event was ruined. ofc I'm not excusing his actions or blaming this post

That's snoven trying to push this whole victim mentality thing he has going. He's trying to push blame onto others, it's something scammers and con artists do all the time.

either that or he's just really really autistic in the literal sense. Some people just have natural problems reacting properly to social scenarios.

Website developer here. I'm of course extremely disappointed and distraught to see the event go up in flames like this. Personally, however, I'd like to stick around as long as the organization still exists.

To clarify a bit on the PayPal button: I had suggested that we add a button for donations to the organization itself to the website, on the grounds that it costs money to register a domain and keep a server up. As it stood, Nick was footing the bill out of pocket, and I wanted to alleviate that burden from him. We received exactly one donation from it, all of which will be used toward the next VPS bill in a few days. I promise, I never intended anything malicious by it.

I also spoke to Plotchy after I got up to speed on what the hell was going on. Yes, he was and/or is a scammer (which I of course don't condone), but he was genuinely dedicated to the event, and seemed just as upset as I was at the sad news. To me it seems the blame falls primarily on Snoven, and perhaps poor management decisions in general in the months and days leading up the event.

Edit: It seems as though my account on this site still uses my old username, but I promise it's me. :)

It's a shame that such imbeciles exist.

Like, snoven do you get joy out of screwing people over just to get some more money by scamming people, saying "I'm sorry. That's my past," then continue to do it? Disgusting.

This may be late, but if you have the steam email verifications on trades, there's a slim chance you can get your stuff back? I'm not actually 100% sure, but the info in this thread, and the screenshots of the twitch chat is some pretty good evidence to show to valve.

Like I said I don't know if its a 100% solution, but its worth a shot I suppose.

No reason he should just play the victim and fuck over people who were doing something genuine.

No chance at all because it was you giving the items over. Valve expects you to do your own due diligence. If they can confirm your account was hacked, that's really the only time they'd give you back items.

Yeah that makes sense, I was going off the message I got when I went to disable it. I don't know it word for word, but it was something along the lines of. "If you disable this feature there is no way for valve to return any items that might be stolen"

"How dare you accuse me of planning to do a thing I've proudly done many times in the past. I'm so hurt and offended by your lack of trust that I'm going to betray everyone who did trust me by doing the very thing I was accused of planning to do. The only reason I'm doing this is because I'm a fragile little flower and you hurt my feelings, so you see it is actually your fault"

I really hope nobody is naive enough to believe him.

You will not be required to confirm trades and will not receive email about trades. Steam Support will also not provide you with any assistance in recovering items that may be stolen from your account, for any reason.

That's the message in your [inventory] privacy settings, telling you the downsides to disabling email confirmations.

I don't think 'stolen items' only refers to items received from being hacked / actually going onto someone else's account. I would hope not, at least. Still, even if they don't do anything, it's still worth a shot - especially since there's more than 2 people involved, and the items were given with the intent to donate to a charity.

You mean blocking people who request their items back after fucking stating that he would honor said requests? Accepting blame while continuing to offend indicates calculated agency. Don't even try to defend it.

I'm not defending anything. Simply stating that there's no reason to be a dick about it.

JDawgWow, we have a really good TF2 community. Good job to Digresser for posting this thread, without you, I don't think we would have caught on to snoven like we did. I'm hoping we can turn this scam into something great for the charity.

The community of Tf2app.com will be working with Miggy to supply servers for this event, now that he has control of the group and event. Luckily for us he has hosted charity events in the past, and is hosting another one this year in fact.

We are not going to let the actions of one person ruin this charity event. There is no reason we should just stop this due to one person's actions.

I will work throughout the night to get the server setup by tomorrow for the event. I will also have a chat command that will be available on all of our servers to donate directly to child's play through the motd.

He's simply taking what he could get once his scam was discovered. Valve should do something, someone using a charity event to enrich himself by stealing donations should not be able to get away with it - it's in their power to return everything.

the best way you can help, is to spread the word.We need to let people know that the event is not cancelled. I will be making a public post in the announcements sections of our website and also a announcement on the flares that care steam group about the server IP addresses. just let everyone know that we're not going to let this ruin our good time

What appalls me is that he says "I was trying to do a genuinely good thing, I don't scam anymore. You can get your items back" and then he doesn't give the items back. just fucking sad.

Heartbreaking. Even more so that snoven, whom we've all seen the true colors of, could be trusted by over 1500 members of the TF2 community and get away with a CHARITY HEIST, LIKE WHAT THE FUCK. Completely sympathize with the feeling of exponential bewilderment as these facts come to light. Huge ups to Digresser for waving the red flags (that many of us should've seen) high and proud. As horrific as this is, we must learn from it. Please do your research before transactions like this, I've been scammed before and I know how it feels. Appalled.
