Yeah I know their's several others but all of them have suggestions I can't really afford atm.

I'm looking for something in the ball park of $40-$100 I'd prefer decent sound quality (not necessarily excellent), circumaural, would prefer a mic on the headset (from experience they catch less background noise from voice activation), preferably not wireless, light headsets are a plus, if you can find any in the price range the cancels out noise that would be insane.

Headsets I've looked at

G230 - $50ish
G430 - $70ish
Razer Kraken - $60ish
HyperX Cloud - $80ish
Corsair Vengeance 1500 - $85ish

I'm pretty hesitant to buy any of those as I'm not so sure of the price/quality ratio

Keep in mind I already have earbuds and 2 desktop mics so I'm mostly looking for a convenient headset for travel or if I just don't want to bother setting everything up.

either the hyperx cloud or the vengeance, imo the first is better

or just get headphones + mic (best choice)

Yeah I've had a G930 that just broke on me so I kinda now what the build quality is just didn't know how it compared to other headsets in the price range.

Leaning heavily with the HyperX cloud atm.

seriously don't limit yourself to the typical gaming headset I.E the brands you listed

they don't last that long, the build quality is cheap and the sound is very mediocre. your price range isn't bad since you're cutting off at $100. you can definitely get studio/home entertainment headphones like sennheiser, AKG etc. also a mod mic (clip on, desktop mic etc) are all great options

i have a lot of headphones but i'll tell you right now even the ones in your price range that i have are lasting a long time. one pair of AKG K 240's ($70) http://www.amazon.com/AKG-240-Semi-Open-Studio-Headphones/dp/B0001ARCFA i've had since 2009, even pioneer ones from early 2005 with no sign of them breaking or crapping out anytime soon

yeah I know, but at the same time I already have 2 desktop mics and I've used a clip on mic by zalman before and I didn't really like it. It picked up a lot of background noises from my dog, a fan, roommates, etc. While a headset mic was much easier to tune to not activate on those background noises.

Sound quality wise I already have a decent enough set of earbuds. So super high quality headphones + a modmic doesn't exactly appeal to me. Mostly cause this would be a headset I would use for travel, but overall build quality I can very well see your point.

Unless those desktop mics are mid-tier or higher (e.g. not a snowball) a mod mic is a better quality microphone, especially if you are not in an anechoic chamber. And, unless those earbuds are mid-tier or higher (really high quality iems and low end Ciems) an open headphone in the $100 range is going to give you better sound quality in every aspect.

my Plantronics Gamecom 780 lasted 2 solid years. i definitely recommend it. only con to it is that there's a lot of sound leakage so if you have a roomate or something they can pretty distinctly hear your noises. other than that thought it's very well made and has awesome sound quality.

As far as I know the Hyperx Clouds are rebranded Takstar headphones, which is a very very good thing. The Takstar Pro 80 are supposedly budget monsters.

pretty much sold me on the hyperx cloud, just a tad worried about the mic but so long as it works ok and doesn't break quickly I'll be cool with that.

I tried hyperx clouds when I went to watch d2l and I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. probably might get some myself just in case anything happens with my current setup.

I've had my pair of corsair vengeance 1500's for over 2 years now. They sound pretty good and the mic is excellent.

SteelSeries Siberia V2 w/ 3.5mm Connectors, ~$70 - 80.

Build quality and mic quality's a bit better w/ the 3.5mm connectors. USB models usually have lower build quality from what I've learned asking previous owners. Great sound quality, I can use the V2 to mix songs and have my mix quality translate to professional-studio monitors.

Take note my suggestion may come with bias as I have a sound card which has improved my mic quality, and increased my SNR - more signal, less noise. Friends were able to hear my mic before I installed the sound card into my computer and did compliment the build quality, being former V2 USB users. As for audio quality, before and after the main difference I noticed was that I could hear more at lower volumes, and audio was slightly more immersive.

tl;dr - V2 w/ 3.5mm connectors, good build quality, good audio reproduction, good mic.
