CHEERISSJust paid. Oh yeah my first lan event! Now how do you ship your computer if you plan on flying? Any tips?
Take your video card out first and put that in your packed bag/carry on. Best tip I've heard about it.

You will also want to remove your CPU cooler and pack it separately if it has any kind of heft to it at all. A Hyper 212+, for example, will probably snap your CPU socket right out of the motherboard if left installed in checked luggage.
Rule of thumb: If it looks heavy, uninstall it and pack it separately. A stock Intel cooler is probably fine to leave on, an aftermarket one is not. An SSD can stay installed, a heavy platter drive should probably be removed. Etc.

Well, I registered. I hope some kind of carpool arrangement works out for me...
I need to make an incredibly important post right now. This goes for everyone on this forum and not just people attending this event:
Rumors of deals not completed (or entirely false deals) could actually scuttle said deals in the works. We understand your excitement about the announcements we've been trying to make, but we don't want any false rumors to be spread that can damage other deals in progress.

Is seating first come first serve or will seats be assigned/can we reserve seating as the event approaches?

There will be a specific TF2 row. That is first come first serve, but again, it'll only be TF2. However, it will be so that you will sit next to your team. I'm going to make everyone space out enough so that their team will sit with them, so don't worry about being spread apart.

Is there anyone carpooling that is driving through Columbus, OH? An 8 hour drive is killer alone.
Don't let that stop you. I've done the drive from Philly to Boston many times for PAX and it's around 8 hours with traffic and bathroom breaks. I had others with me a couple times, did it alone a few times. It was worth it, and GXL will be for sure.
I'm going to try making an effort and see if I'll be able to go.

i just mapped it and it's 7 hrs 10 min. speed a little bit and dont stop for bathroom breaks and you're there in 6.5, aint too bad. besides, driving for that long alone gives you time to dwell on every poor decision you've ever made so that's always fun

Paid. This is Columbus Day weekend if you needed another excuse to go. (Might be why flights are more expensive for some.)
TerywjAnyone from Mass (Amherst / Boston) planning to go? Would love to show up and play.

If I drive, it will be through Columbus OH from Indianapolis and carpooling would be much appreciated. Still not sure if that is what I am doing or if flight is the better option.
