Here is a little update in regards to CEVO. Things are moving forward very well and I am so excited about the progress. We all will be busy over the Christmas break but we will

1) Give another update near the end of December

2) CEVO can answer a series of text questions in a forum format that were not answered in the community meeting in the early part of January

3) Another community/CEVO meeting as before with final update before the registration of teams open

4) Prize pot will be announced when registration opens!

Technosex and SizzlingCalamari was able to meet up with the CEVO tech team tonight and we are all very pleased about the results. According to SizzlingCalamari their Stats system which CEVO will be implementing is an improved stat system that will be flexible to expand in the future as the TF2 league grows. He also wants to remind the community that “the ss project is open source and that anyone can contribute”- SizzlingCalamari. In addition, the STV is very much a reality and you will be updated when the final project is complete.

As for the Season 4 prize pot whatever prize pot is announced it is a guaranteed prize pot. We are looking at a flat fee for each team at this time. Depending on the amount of teams from each division will determine how the Season 4 will be managed and set up. We will can post a vote on how much the community would want to pay to play for season 4. We do want to hear from you all!
CEVO and myself want the community to fully understand that this Season will be either the make or break it for Team Fortress 2! CEVO needs a good number of teams to fully register and commit or there may not be a Season 5. It would be helpful if the team captains right now can come to the CEVO site, register and post their interest in playing CEVO in Season 4 in a pay to play league. This again is to build and sustain a community league with CEVO at the wheel! See the link below and please only post what is asked and not questions about CEVO! If you are really needing to ask questions you can register on the CEVO website and post questions in their forums!

So please be patient with me ladies and gents! Thank you and know that we are all working hard to make this a reality. We appreciate your support and understanding.

EDIT: Sorry but if you missed the first community meeting here is the audio link.

I don't know if it's just me but I'd prefer a per person fee rather than a team fee. Firstly, it can put pressure on the team leader to pay for all / most of the fee (especially for teams that are still recruiting). Secondly, it makes it a lot easier to have subs, which is nice but you can end up with subs that just roster ride for free and may play at a higher level. In ESEA with every player paying their own fees it forced each player to make the most out of the money they paid for the season (make it to scrims, make it to matches). My suggestion is a flat fee for the first 6 players in the roster, and a cheaper fee for any additional player.

In my opinion, a team fee promotes having backups because they don't have to pay in order to be in a non-starting role on a team. Backups can roster ride without incurring a financial penalty for committing to helping a team that might have scheduling issues.

Yea, I think having backups is extremely important to a team, especially to combat scheduling issues. But I still think a small fee for backups (something like $5 for the entire season - not $10 + monthly subscription just to play one game / games during that month) won't really hinder teams from having backups and solve some other problems (and besides if the backup pays to play then it'll also make more sense to involve the backups more in scrims and such).

I think the whole team fee thing is a great idea. If the devs could setup a way for members to pay a portion that would be cool. Alternatively just make it common practice to pay the leader their share.

Great idea. 60 total team fee each member can pay 10.

I feel like this would be a good idea as well. We know that most teams will have individual players pay their share so make it a bit easier for them to do so.

I seriously hope that everyone ditches ESEA and moves to CEVO. I'm not going to play, cause I don't play tf2 anymore, but it seems like this is such a good move forward for the community it is unbelievable. If the community does not move, I will be very disappointed in the community, for not being able to see the great chance they have to make this community oh so much better.

Would it be possible to pay both ways? Say individual players can pay for their portion and it gets credited to the team fee, only counting for the team they paid up on.

How about a slot system? The first 6 slots on a team are $10 each and any member of the team can contribute money towards unlocking them. Allow 3 additional slots to be unlocked at $5 each and you can bring in subs if you want. Once the slot is unlocked, it stays unlocked for the season so you can still trade players if you want.

This way each member can pay for themselves individually, or teammates can pitch in to help cover costs for others if needed. Subs are a good thing, but should still have to pay. It makes a difference when you have a little bit of money involved. This would make choosing and practicing with subs something people take seriously rather than a last minute replacement.

Let any team member pay for any amount they choose for the team fee. like one team member can't pay so someone else pays his part, or the team leader l/sponsor can cover it all.

I'd like the idea of free backups, but organizing a way to split the cost if it has to be paid in one chunk is not going to be fun. please make the system flexible.

I really really hope CEVO TF2 takes off. Its nice to see a 6s division that pays attention and communicates.

If only the cilnet had Linux support.

The notification about roster locks was up on ESEA for a week in advance.

This is going to depend on how many people actually sign-up for the next season, if I understand correctly.
