After all of this, this will be the last season I play in ESEA. Not letting them get any more money out of me.

I still believe that Torbull is a genuine guy who cares about competitive FPS games and wants to see them grow. However, I think lpkane is rotten to the core and is only interested in siphoning as much money as he can from a desperate community.

This season of ESEA will be my last as long as lpkane still is employed by ESEA. If he is fired and Torbull (or someone else trustworthy) picks up his responsibilities, I would consider giving ESEA another shot.

It was a joke on 'elaborate' as an adjective. Everyone will do what Enigma tells them to, and Enigma wants LAN. 'Should' doesn't come into it.

Isn't the problem that lpkane holds half the rights to ESEA, not that he hasn't been fired yet? He might find it hard to justify firing himself with all that money coming in. As I see it, the only solution that would make all the players happy is if lpkane would sell his claim to the company and move on to greener pastures. Or just different pastures. EDIT: which is unlikely to happen.

there are 3 separate documents, and the one we signed specifically says we deny their allegations and claims we're simply paying them so they'll go away

He contradicts himself so much in that thread that he doesn't even need anyone to call him an idiot. If they disagree and know they actually didn't do anything wrong, you fight it. You don't just pay out 6 figures...all that's saying is, yea i'm wrong but lets make this go away fast so i don't look any worse. He knows that a large part of his clientele are younger kids and the quicker it goes away they'll forget it ever happened...but the rest of us know better. This is no different then when celebrities/athletes pay off "undisclosed settlements" to shut people up about the ghosts in their closets. It's funny how that thread is presented as an open discussion yet he either ignores or has shit responses to any real questions. What a joke.

Yes, lpkane is at least a 50% co-owner of ESEA and runs most of the day-to-day operations. So for him to be 'fired' would require some very deliberate effort from Torbull, the other co-owner of the company.

I think a north american division in etf2l would be a great idea. Making a new league will most likely fail though. Look at igl, they had a great site and what seemed like great staff. The league is dead before the first season ended.

Hello everyone,

I am rushing off to work and have been tossing and turning all night thinking about this issue. I have spoken to all of my teams last night and as a sponsor I am no longer willing to support ESEA. I have had issues with ESEA in the past as a sponsor and those who know me understand what those issues were. I kept going with ESEA to support the community cause that is what we were going with. Now this has sealed the deal for me and I am done.

We have so many amazing people with so many skills and abilities we just need to gather up people and our resources as a community. We have done so many amazing things in the past and I know we can do this if we do it together. I am more then willing to assist in anyway I can. I hope over the years that people trust me personally and AG enough as an organization to assist.

I would like to organize a meeting or a group of people who want to explore the idea of bringing our own league together. Organizing people is one of my greatest skills and I am not willing to give up on this community just because ESEA has finally been proven to be an organization that cannot be trusted.

Please feel free to add me on steam to those of you who are not on my friends list and if I have enough support from the community I am willing to take the lead on organizing the next step. Just let me know if this is what you want.

While I'm all for ditching ESEA (as my first season was not the most pleasurable experience) and moving to another community run league, ETF2L, or CEVO, I'm just worried that if a large majority of the community is not on the same page, we'll just be separating an already small community. I'm also a bit hesitant/skeptical because there's always been a bunch of talk how everyone would leave ESEA once another league came out, but ever since CEVO came out, they've had a pretty low amount of teams signing up, and now everyone is still playing in ESEA.

I think the issue with this is that we as the community had no representation. For example, if I decided to start a league, rented a couple dedis, ran top notch servers and an intuitive website, while being active in the community and promised LAN and cheaper league fees, no one would play still because "who the fuck is this platypus guy"

But, if someone with standing in the community decides to do the above, we'll see the higher-up players signing up just because they recognize the name(s) running it, and probably because they know the person running it, because even with all the drama and the constant criticisms of 6v6 not being a "viable esport", everyone plays, because we enjoy the game and the community is much more tightly-knit as a result.

I'm biased, but I think a NA ETF2L division would be the best. Having everyone on the same page with match rules and unlocks would also theoretically make international showmatches and LANs more exciting as NA teams wouldn't need to adjust to a new ruleset.

we might be witnessing a new age of competitive tf2, I really hope by the end of this season we can leave ESEA behind with no remorses. whatever grows from here will surely be more beneficial in the long run, even if that means we will have to go through some dark ages.

My UGC sources also appear to be interested in putting a horse in this race, along with seemingly being very willing to reconfigure parts of the league to accommodate ESEA players.

So there's yet another option to toss in the hat if we are all truly unhappy enough with ESEA to depart.

Now that everyone knows what was going on, people will be much more weary about how the client works regarding our computers. I guess this means maybe the anti-cheat will actually work for once instead of keeping everyone around to make money off of. We need community programmers to start doing some undercover work and breaking down this "anti cheat client". Perhaps release the source. YES, RELEASE THE SOURCE PLEASE. You need to re-build your integrity as a whole. Anyone with a brain knows that you were clearly going to lose if it went to trial otherwise you wouldn't give up 300k as if it was nothing. That's just stupidity. "Oh it was a waste of time so we just gave them 300k to get off our backs. Can't win against the government or majority." - George Zimmerman. There's no way as the top dog of a small company you could have literally no idea about this. I was born at night but not last night.

The only lesson that can be learned from this is having a good amount of money can get you out of a good bit of trouble. For your own sake however and for the gaming communities, I hope you get it together. I've been a subscriber for years and i'm just not so gullible. At any moment in time another legitimate league could roll around and you could lose it all in a flash. You should think about that and be grateful of the player following you do have. Good luck.

How was that a direct insult?

LPKane and ESEA are ridiculous. I just shot a ~30 min vlog about it god damn.

TL/DR: We should quit ESEA and not look back. The 2nd match between Classic MixUp and iT just might be the last ESEA match I ever cover... I don't want to give them free advertising anymore.

Thoughts on that?

I'd rather cast scrims than showcase their league.

they gave me a refund for this month of premium, lol. Not my league fees though.

And yea, it's just like ripping off a band aid. We just need to do it. LAN isn't a good enough reason to continue playing in the league. There are plenty of lans that would host a tf2 tournament if there was enough interest. If we create our own league we can always just host our own "LAN finals" at a lan that already exists. Buy out the required amount of tickets and make it happen.
