StPatrickThere are plenty of lans that would host a tf2 tournament if there was enough interest. If we create our own league we can always just host our own "LAN finals" at a lan that already exists. Buy out the required amount of tickets and make it happen.
I'm 100% positive this can happen as long as we have enough people that care for it to happen and are willing to go through with it. I'm very willing to help out with this process.
I manage the tournaments of the GXL LANs in PA if we wanna come to the east coast. ;0

Honestly,
I think that best thing that could happen moving forward is a real dialogue Nahanni (and whomever else is interested/ able to help get a comp.tf league off the ground) for them to figure out how to/ what they need to ask for to get a new league off the ground and make a new post.
Not that it'd matter a ton, but it'd also help if we knew how bigger names would react to joining the new league/ or not. It wouldn't really matter if the same people say they'll quit once ESEA drops TF2, but it can't do anything but help if Clockwork, Brad, and other inv. players come out to say they'll endorse a new league after the current season of ESEA ends.
Normal shitheads like me would be more than willing to commit money to a prize pool (even though I won't be playing), but we need some sort of structure beforehand.
Not to pass the buck to Seanbud or anything, but he's had incredible success organizing a fundraiser with (what I think) are next to no resources.

Tossing a charitable blanket over the event might oil the cogs a bit in terms of getting them to put some sort of effort into providing a venue - we can tell them the contribution will be made in the name of Winning Team Players, Comp.tf, and QuakeCON [Or whatever fucking event].
We'd approach them with something like:
(We have an event that we'd like to host, with X amount of proceeds being split amoung prize pools/ a pre-approved charity of the donor's choice; but need a venue - can you help out?) Or something, I don't fucking know, worst they can do is tell us to fuck off
Someone that's actually been to LAN and knows what the minimum requirements would be to throw something like this together, please help me understand the kind of shit we'd need if we were to do something like this ourselves. You can't go to a Convention and ask for something and not have a response if they agree and ask what we need.
