#33 ESEA Season 17 Announced in News
radiumESEA is a business. Businesses often give sterile and innocuous statements as a means to not offend any potential customers.

Should let lpkane in on the secret

#42 South Florida TF2 Charity Lan in LAN Discussion

Yea when I made that post I was including the back room. Still way too small. I'm not trying to be a negative nancy - because I think LANs are great and this is a good idea - I just know for a fact that a 200 man LAN is not doable in that venue, even with the back room. The back room is just a finals set up anyways with a large projector screen and main stage.

I've been to the versus LAN center in pompano and I have to say there is no way in hell you are running a 200 man tournament there. The place is tiny and maybe has 20 computers.

St. Patrick is still banned.

To be fair, i haven't made any attempt to be unbanned. Not that i'd expect to be even if i tried, i'm just sayin.

I want whats best for the game just like everyone else here. Cevo sign ups far exceeded anyone's expectations, and in doing so have set themselves up for a solid season after the current one. Let's stop the argument about "which league is better" as well as the hate for cevo, they're not doing anything wrong. If anything, the competition between the businesses will be good for the game. Support TF2, not a league. Do what's best for the game. I know that a lot of invite players only have incentive to play in esea, which is completely understandable, so do what you have to to keep that going, but in the end it's on esea and cevo to attract our business, not the other way around.

Edit: The 2nd portion of this post wasn't really directed at anyone, it's just a vibe i was feeling.

shocka1enigmacasting is a limited resource and given that invite matches garner by far the most viewers, it absolutely makes sense to give priority to the games that the most people want to watch

you really can't argue numbers

And how many invite matches would be casted this season if Open players decided to stick with CEVO and not be 'swayed' by the fake generosity? Mhmmm.

I don't buy the "limited resources" excuse. Plat and harb, along with many other "well-recognized" players could create their own twitch account and start casting lower-level games. This is where power rankings and talk of "who's the best of the worst" comes in. You do not have to cast every open game, but choose games that are supposed to be good according to the team's skill level. Even though Open is a lower division, there are still good games to watch. And IF people like Plat or harb were to cast these games, they could EXPLAIN what is going wrong, how to fix it and give people better insight.

Bottom line is, stop trying to act like you care about the lower divisions, because you don't.

I'm all for bettering the community and higher level players helping lower level players out, but it's really not their responsibility to do it, or anyone's for that matter. It's a bit absurd to suggest that players who are already participating in higher divisions should also cast low level games and mentor teams. That stuff is time consuming.

#370 ESEA's possible demise? in TF2 General Discussion

I'd rather support the league that wants our business. ESEA did nothing to address any issue that we currently have, or have had with them in the past. All they did was offer free premium for open teams. La dee freaking dah.

#106 cevo/esea in TF2 General Discussion

Ffs let people play in the league that they want to play in. Both products have made it very clear what they're offering. And for the people who have been saying "esea hasn't made a single cent off of tf2, they must love it so much!", that is possibly the stupidest point (among countless other stupid points) in this whole argument. They put all of their time and effort into CS because it's the moneymaker. They get better support, an AC that actually works for their game, etc. TF2 is just their red headed step child and most likely just another way to fund the CS pot. I find it really hard to believe that they don't benefit from us in any way. If that's true then they are terrible businessmen. Our game doesn't fit there, its just easy for them to run because it's a popular source engine game.

And you can sure as shit guarantee that cevo won't be successful if you idiots keep begging everyone to "stay with esea for now".

#1 Need help paying for cevo? in TF2 General Discussion

The deadline for cevo is in less than 24 hours! There are still 70 teams out of 99 that aren't ready! I'd be willing to spot a few people the 15 dollars who are in dire straits. If you really need it, add me on steam and I'll do my best to help out. I have to work tomorrow night so be quick about it! I'm not rich so this will be limited to a few people.

If you're willing to help as well then you should post in this thread!

The community doesn't have to come together and choose one league. Play in the leagues you think are worth playing in. Cevo is going to offer a product just like esea does. If you deem it worth playing in, play in it. If i were a team leader i'd probably want to play in both just to support growth in the competitive scene. Also it would be nice to play in a league where there is a better chance of winning, since it seems like the better teams aren't going to participate. That's not to say there won't be good teams or good competition. I'm just saying there won't be competition that you have a 0% chance of beating.

That being said, I don't play anymore and i couldn't play in esea even if i wanted to. I'd still like to see the community grow and pursue potential alternatives to esea, instead of just letting every league that tries run into the ground. Nothing grows w/o consumer support.
