How do I medic better

Hello, I dunno how to really preface this, but I technically main Medic. And I want to be a better medic.
So I'd like to think that I'm a halfway-competent medic compared to most of the people in this community, but I'll go ahead and assume that I am a terrible medic. Because when all else fails, assume you're the one who fucked up.
Anyway, what are some tips that you guys would give for being a better medic in general? Maybe I'll get flak for having a stupidly low number of hours compared to most of the people on here, but I really do want to try to get better as medic and keep my team alive without getting ravaged.
(Should I just try to watch invite-level teams and learn from their medics? I've heard that this is a pretty good idea too.)
(also is there a way to not get mangled by good scouts because for srs fuck good scouts)

As a medic, it helps to provide your team with information if it's accurate. Top level medics will generally time the enemy medic's uber (just watch the scoreboard until the enemy medic respawns to know how much advantage you have), which helps your team make smarter decisions. Alternatively, people don't always know how much health the rest of your team has, so if your pocket wants to push but everyone else is low, you can tell him not to.

On a more mechanical level, playing the game more will help you reduce your # of deaths per game as you'll start to understand where players will attack you from and how to better position yourself to avoid that.

There are a bunch of things you can do, but dedication is the key.

Like you said, you can watch invite medics and learn from that, for example, trying to analyse what they do, understanding why they're doing it (positioning, etc).

You can also watch, better teams, in general, with all the streams going around atm or try to analyse your demos, thinking if your positioning is correct, for example, whenever you die, see if it was your fault, if there was something you could have done to avoid that.

Also, communication is a key factor. Well, it is in any class, but thinking only in medic, there is so much more you can do then just heal.

dont worry so much about movement and dodging and positioning that you dont put out good heals

Please realize when your death is inevitable and kill yourself immediately instead of going for "hero plays".

if you cant dodge the rocket surf it

your class doesnt have to shoot stuff, when you aren't swamped with work to do fill in the calls you see arent being made. you see the big picture.. call crucial jumps and damage.
