Little bit late to the party there Drac but I still like ya.

I think Idra will make a great commentator, assuming he goes that route. Might make me watch SC2 again.

I wouldn't be surprised if he considered trying to commentate full time. I seriously doubt he finds any enjoyment in trying to compete anymore. Where ever he goes in the SC2 scene, he'll get views and monies. Bit weird not to see the EG before his name anymore though.

He's gonna be casting shoutcraft america on Saturday.

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/The_SHOUTcraft_Invitational/SHOUTcraft_America

Also real talk where he explains that hes done with playing professional and why EG cut him since people seem to have not seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUf2tRAwMcY

tldr for real talk: He got cut because EG promised sponsors that he wouldn't say anymore stupid shit 2 days before he called his fans a bunch of fucks on tl.net. And now since he hates sc2 and isn't winning anymore, hes gonna quit as a player and be a full time commentator/content producer/streamer.

Really sudden news too when it broke, EG.iNcontrol was still doing StateOfTheGame live when he learned from EG's management and you can tell that he was upset by the decision especially when he didn't have a say in the matter. Idra should really go into casting, he's fucking great at it.

Is anyone really surprised? I'm mean he hated SC2 pretty much from day 1 and knew that he wouldn't get good enough in BW before the game finally died. I'm amazed he managed to to keep up his persona of an asshole so long without being cut from EG. If you ever meet the guy outside of Starcraft he's actually really nice and quiet. Props for making a big splash in the game but he backed himself into a corner as a player. Maybe he can team up with Day9 to make a new tastosis duo, would be a lot of fun.

This honestly helped bump up viewership of SC2. Everybody wanted to know what he was going to do, because people actually enjoy the character he is (whether they admit it or not, he's one of the most interesting SC2 players).

Not really, idra has always been somebody who has been very followed since he is the first american to ever play in GSL and has been on high hopes for a while. He was a consistently decent player for the most part. I wouldn't say he's one of the most interesting SC2 players as much as he is one of the biggest personalities in SC2. And that's why he'll be a good caster. If it's anything like his NASL work, he'll do just fine.

idrA casting isn't gonna really bring that many people back, just increase viewership among those who already watch a lot.

fare thee well, evil genius idra.

Idra casting Shoutcraft is just a gimmick. Negative personalities may work for players, but not for casters.

It's weird. At first, they tried to just say IdrA quit (http://youtu.be/RWuJ6pFe1LI). But now IdrA comes out and confesses his whole mindset behind getting cut from EG and why he was cut (http://youtu.be/iUf2tRAwMcY).

It seems some people are confused. IdrA 100% got cut, that has always been the story, but after being cut he decided to quit being a competitor. He will remain active in the scene in other capacities though. As for Stephano, he's been talking about 'retiring' for ages.

I followed him a little while he was still playing BW B-team. That's mainly the reason he got into GSL anyways. Personality is part of being a player, and yeah it's mainly the personality.

this won't affect EG at all, they're a way bigger org now than when they picked up idra
as for idra himself it sucks, but that's what happens when you badmouth the dudes who are supporting you

stephano said he'll quit when he can no longer make money by playing.

I met IdrA at PAX East, guy was kind of a douche. You could tell he didn't want to be there in any way whatsoever and it was kind of showing. Machine, though, was a really cool guy.
