do lowercase mystuff, I see that you're using an upper case M in your folder name.

I'm not having the problem, so we'll have to see if that fix works out for him... that'd be an interesting solution though.

crespiHas anyone noticed that in tf2 properties - local files - the option to defrag game files is gone? You can only verify them now.

Is this something new or have they not optimized the system for defragging yet?

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43946806/steam.png

To my understanding, vpk's don't need to be defragged like gcf's did. Gcf's were big, cluncky, and un-updateable. They were essentally a container file with the same directory as /username/gamename/. Vpk's are smaller, and strip all the file header info of all the internal files to the header of the vpk, along with crc data, file size and bit offset within the vpk. This along with /custom/ allows for less file calls and generally faster load times.

Thank you. This truly is fascinating. About time valve gets their shit together. Now, only if they would optimize tf2 a little more for windows :(

obe_Having a problem with maps. I go to create a listen server and my downloaded maps aren't there. I backed them up but to my knowledge I shouldn't need to worry about that. I checked the downloads folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\download\maps) and my maps are there but they just aren't showing up ingame. What's up?* Installing custom maps for local hosting or custom content to play on sv_pure 0 (like models) or just hitsounds: Same as previous – Put everything in /custom/mystuff/. So it might look like /custom/mystuff/maps/mge_v8.bsp or /custom/mystuff/materials/naked_models.vmt
You can local host maps that are in /download/ location if you type map mapname in console, but the names wont come up from GUI main menu. Any custom models need to be in /custom/mystuff/ folder though for them to work!

unfmy mumble overlay doesnt work, anyone else?

Mine is fine. My guess is you have to enable it in the overlay whitelist in the mumble settings. Since the location of hl2.exe changed (from steamapps/username/teamfortress 2 to steamapps/common/teamfortress 2) you have to re-enable it.

Raise your hand if you are surprised that this new update (that was supposed to fix everything) breaks everything instead.

I was playing a scrim today and four of our players crashed at the exact same time in the middle of a round. People were also crashing randomly in pubs so it seems there are still some fatal bugs in steam pipe.

I timed startup time before and after with a test launch before the timing. My startup time went from 18 seconds to 8. Love you Valve.

I HIGHLY recommend you guys pack your custom files (HUDs especially) into vpk files. You may have to change the fonts inside clientscheme.res to lower case though

because when placed into just folders, it will only load/mount things like fonts and such when called upon, thus making your tf2 hang or crash. Vpk files do not have such issues as they mount on game start.

Reading up a bit about vpks, it seems that fonts (TTF files, unsure about otf) don't work properly in vpk files

Doesn't work for me either. I reckon it's a problem on Valve's end.

hud works fine, got my hitsound working~ and everything is loading so nicely

the only problem i had/have were things not loading and doing this funky thing where character models were freaking out and duplicating or something? if they were on certain areas and some models and textures werent loading.

turned out it was a dumb server issue, so im hopin its gone because seeing about an infinite number of scouts on a point is pretty much my worst nightmare

It apparently isn't working for Linux users, I'm on Windows and it works fine.

Did you try making a VPK and putting that in the custom folder?
